Preview of a little game I've been working on + ramblings + I'm never going to stop making games no matter how hard they get!

Hello! Hope you're doing well!

First off, just wanted to thank everyone who supported my book! I also wanted to share a game I've been working on recently!

What I've been up to

For a couple of years, I have been on and off about making games. I used to post about a previous game project [Boba Birds]. I had taken long hiatuses because of life stuff, simply put, the scope became too darn BIG! There was online play, offline play, online play in case you accidentally disconnect from the internet so you could still play without losing your progress–you get what I mean! There was multiplayer and single player too. I even made it compatible for iphone, android, tablet, windows, and mac: all at the same time! My dreams were endless for the games I would make, but my knowledge on how to execute it was limited.

Creating it was a struggle as there was too much I didn't know. I found myself constantly redesigning everything once I learned something new. I think this is typical of many beginners like myself who had so many ideas! I think it was good to have a lot of ideas since I got to learn a lot, but the next step up the ladder was seemingly impossible. I had become overwhelmed by the largeness of my own game. There was a burning passion inside me to make games, but I just didn't know how to make it the way I wanted! Like a baby bird wanting to soar high, I could barely get off the ground.

So I decided: I had to take everything I know and try again!

A few months ago, I started drawing and coding again. My only goal was to make something fun! Not something that had everything AND the kitchen sink, but something that would inspire me to keep going! And that game would be [Whalelord]

About Whalelord

This game is a strategy game! It's single player and compatible for macos and windows only. Making it available on tablet and mobile is a whole beast, so I'm going to just keep it available on desktop for now. I was inspired by monopoly and old tycoon games where you put buildings down and you earn money over time. The concept was also born when I had a silly idea of a whale with a floating city on his back, and that whale would be its own landlord. I'll go more into the Whalelore (haha, Whalelore) later, but that's the jist of it!

You play as Whiley the Whale and you are trying to collect money every round to survive. The buildings do all sorts of stuff and the goal is to pick, rearrange, grow, and sell buildings in a way that would produce the most money. Why does a Whale need to make so much money every round? Well, because in this game, he's actually the child of Princess Whaleina the 13th of and General Killer Whale, and, okay, I'll get into this is another post!

Here are some actual screenshots of the game!
