A great way to make reading more fun…

OK so you’re the parent with the kid that doesn’t like to sit down and read with you. Whether it’s ADHD,on the spectrum autism, boredom, distraction etc your kid just doesn’t wanna sit still to read a book with you, is this you?

Here’s something you can try! Gather a bunch of cool costume stuff relating to the books, play dress up and act out the books as you read them!

This can make storytime so much more interesting, funny and enjoyable for you and your kids that they actually look forward to reading books with you.

This can get your children away from too much screen time and they get to spend quality time with the people that they love the most YOU!!!

The only thing it doesn’t do is calm them down for bedtime. I have found that children’s meditations on YouTube or from Private practitioners websites made for kids has helped my family tremendously when it comes to bedtime.

I sing them my very own lullaby (that I wrote for them before they were born) each and every night as they lay down to go to sleep and relax them with gentle tickles on their little heads and faces. Before they drift off they get a gentle forehead kiss, an I love you, and a sweet dreams wisper then off they go into dreamland.

My lullaby has two very meaningful components to its lyrics:

“Let all your fears fade away, I’ll be here for you when you wake” and “gentle slumber hold you close Flutterbye you are loved the most” which I sing to each of them individually.

My nana used to sing to me and I remember this being one of the most beautiful memories of my time with her when she was here in her human life.

I still remember every song and silly tune and sing those to my children as well as the ones I make up each day. I love being creative and singing to and with my children making memories for years to come.

Take the time to be there for your children. Let them remember how much you were there for them and how much time you made for them.

People grow up remembering their parents and how much or how little they were there. Sure we might remember toys or things but what truly matters is the time we spend together while we are here together in this human experience.

I want my kids to have fond memories of me and the time we spent together when it’s my turn to rejoin the spirit realm. I want them to grow up knowing they had a kind and caring mom there for them when they needed me.

People think you can buy love but you can’t. A child wants you more than a toy so be there with them. A game is more fun when played together!

Be the joy in your child’s life and create the smile on their face by being there for them however you can.

Parenting is not always easy, but there are many ways around challenges like these that can make life better for both you and you family!

Happy playing!
