Update on sketch rewards
Added 2019-03-22 23:56:47 +0000 UTCEver since halfway through last month, I've been doing quite a lot of thinking. I feel now I should just come out and say it. From this point moving forward, I'm giving sketch rewards their own tier priced at $20 and cutting the slots in half.
When I settled on $10, they were doodles I could do relatively quickly. Now that I've been keeping this up for about 10 months, I've been taking much longer to get even a single sketch done. Just about as long as it takes me to do a normal sketch commission at regular price. That's because I don't wanna half-bake the quality for the sake of time. Even with all the work I have piled up, I still feel this desire to put my best foot forward. I absolutely can't help myself regarding this. By the time I finish everything, I'm far too burned out to work on personal art.
As everyone knows, being burned out from overwork can put an artist into a serious spiral of depression. I'm definitely no exception as I can never find time to do anything I like anymore. Between handing out rewards, managing commissions, and animating a show, I have far too much on my plate as is. I haven't even found the time to host the private streams I've promised the mid-tier patrons. Let alone doing the sort of art anyone would expect from those streams even on my own time. If keeping this up out of fear of losing support means I can't give myself free time to create and experiment, then I have to know when to draw the line.
The end goal I'm expecting from such a drastic change is having more breathing room to make more high quality art, more time to dedicate to commissions for everyone who have been asking for them, and yes, more time to draw art of the "36 Chambers" variety :U
That being said, I'll keep trying my best for everyone. As for the new tier for sketches, Rage of the Dragons is now available. The current patrons pledged to the Mark of the Wolves tier are free to upgrade to the new tier. If anyone wishes to tone their pledge down to an earlier tier or drop it outright, I understand completely. Everyone's financial situations are different and I won't hold it against anyone for wanting to take care of themselves. Thanks for sticking around in either case. Have a good'n!
