PRI Chapter 39: New Prison Philosophy and Cohen's Wish Mission

Ottavio Miller was just a microcosm of the American prison system.

Like that judge who later desperately sent juveniles to prison, which was far more vicious in nature than this case.

But Lind didn't care about wrongful convictions in other prisons; he only cared about his own little territory.

He could exploit criminals, he could use criminals, but he absolutely could not wrongfully convict criminals.

Even the most heinous killer, once in prison, he would view with fair eyes.

Not to mention unlucky guys like Ottavio Miller who were purely victims of undeserved disasters.

Even without the sudden challenge, he would help him escape prison as soon as possible.

This wasn't a place where he should stay.

Of course, now that there was a new blueprint reward, that was even better.

After all, the system task about building different special facilities was just one facility short of completion.

Lind returned to his office with Andy and instructed him to keep an eye on Ottavio Miller recently, but not to make things difficult for him, and not to let others make things difficult for him either.

"Understood, Warden." Andy left with his orders.

Lind sat in his chair gently swaying, his face showing a thoughtful expression.

"Warden?" When Angelina entered, she found Lind's face and shoulders bathed in sunlight, making it somewhat unclear whether he had fallen asleep.

However, Lind quickly responded, "Is there something? Or is there more bad news?"

"No, this time it's good news." Angelina came to Lind's side and handed him the document, "After receiving our first batch of headphones, the military thought the quality was good and placed another large order with us through the Federal Prison Industries."

"Oh! That is indeed good news." The order Lind had taken before would only last until April, but now with another batch of new orders, it should be enough to keep them working for a whole year.

Although the profit wasn't as good as electronic ankle monitors, headphones were stable and technically simple.

It was still very suitable as the first step in training prisoners.

Otherwise, having those rough guys assemble electronic ankle monitors right away would probably result in a defect rate that would become an insurmountable pit.

After signing his name on the contract, Lind returned the document to Angelina.

Angelina was about to leave but was called back by the warden.

"Angelina, what do you think should be done if there's someone in prison who has been framed?"

"Someone who has been framed?" Angelina was somewhat puzzled, not knowing why Lind would ask such a question.

In America, being framed and imprisoned wasn't commonplace?

When major companies had accidents, someone always had to take the fall. They couldn't have board members go to prison, could they?

She was used to seeing such things and didn't think there was anything wrong with it at all.

But since her boss Lind had asked, she couldn't directly state her thoughts and could only say tactfully, "That's a matter for the courts. Perhaps we could help this prisoner file a new appeal?"

"Appeals alone treat the symptoms but not the root cause." Lind shrugged, "After all, when all the evidence is against you, you're just a moth stuck in a spider web. No matter how much you struggle, it's useless."

"Then what do you plan to do, Warden?"

"I plan to establish an invisible system in the prison."

"Invisible system?" Angelina raised her eyebrows. Today she had drawn black curved eyebrows and painted a beauty mark above the corner of her mouth, which combined with her blonde hair gave her a very Marilyn Monroe feel.

Lind nodded, "That's right. This system will be a reward for those who committed minor crimes or no crimes at all, allowing them to leave prison faster."

"Why?" Angelina didn't understand.

Private prisons made money by exploiting criminals. If criminals could all leave quickly, how would private prisons make money?

And why would this capitalist fool Lind do such altruistic things?

This completely contradicted CIA intelligence.

If his previous hatred of drug dealers could still be explained as regret after his detox, then his current behavior was equivalent to being possessed by Jesus.

Was he really planning to become a philanthropist?

With various thoughts turning in her mind, Angelina showed a puzzled look.

Lind explained, "It's simple. This is a new philosophy I've created. Let people beneficial to society receive forgiveness, and let people harmful to society receive punishment. How about it? When we go public in the future, could this slogan ruthlessly suck in a wave of investors' money?"

Hearing this, Angelina immediately put her heart back in her stomach.

Very good, it seemed the CIA intelligence was correct.

This guy was still a money-obsessed, iron-blooded capitalist.

With such a small scale, he was already thinking about going public in the future!

"Great slogan, better than CCA's."

However, Angelina nodded in affirmation of Lind's idea.

CCA's slogan was "Redefining Excellence," a double entendre that quite suited the preferences of America's elite groups.

But for the vast masses of retail investors who hadn't even finished high school, this slogan was a bit too obscure.

Border Prison's kind of slogan was more suitable and more eye-catching.

Lind smiled, "Also, help me investigate someone else. Gabe Jensen, a department leader at BGE Civil Engineering Company in Houston. See if he has any dirt on him."

This time it was Angelina's turn to shrug. She found that Lind really treated her as an all-purpose tool.

He came to her for communication with government departments, for arranging prison affairs, and even for having private investigators investigate people.

The key was that she now felt herself getting busier and busier, with much less time to slack off.

Really annoying.

She should have known better than to let Lind know she had channels to find people for investigations.

"Fine." Angelina answered reluctantly, and her high heels clicked loudly as she turned around.

Lind couldn't help but show a hint of a smile, then called out to her again, "Don't rush."

"Is there anything else you need?" Angelina forced out a smile, almost making Lind laugh out loud.

He said, "I just wanted to say thank you for your hard work, and I'm giving you a gift."

With that, he opened the drawer, took out a gift box, and handed it over.

After Angelina accepted it, she teased, "Warden, are you pursuing me?"

"What, don't you like the feeling of being pursued?" Lind didn't fall behind at all and teased back.

"I like it, it's just..." Angelina waved the gift box in her hand, said nothing more, and turned to leave.

"It would be nice if there was less work."

Lind voiced the little vixen's thoughts, then watched her swaying waist and the accompanying alluring slender black-stockinged legs, and couldn't help but let his imagination run wild.

"Sooner or later I'll make you call me daddy in bed.” He muttered to himself, then got up, just about to go to the bathroom to take care of his urge to urinate.

A system notification suddenly popped up.
