PRI Chapter 31: Want the Prison? Then Fill It With Your Lives!
Added 2025-08-17 10:59:22 +0000 UTCPhoenix's mouth wasn't hard to pry open.
After Lind had blinded his eye, he fell into an infinitely depressed state.
James didn't even need to torture him much before he spilled everything.
In reality, the news that his family had been taken hostage by drug dealers came from a guard.
It was the guard who had resigned two days ago after Parker's vehicle crash incident.
The guard told him that if he didn't follow the drug dealers' wishes, they would kill all his brothers and sisters.
What the drug dealers wanted was for Phoenix to turn the prison upside down, preferably killing a guard.
Only this way could he save his family's lives.
Therefore, Phoenix had squeezed half a tube of toothpaste into his mouth today, disguising himself as having epilepsy, trying to kill the doctor and make a big scene.
Unfortunately, he was just one step away from success when Lind deceived him, causing the drug dealers' assigned task to fail completely.
Now there was no hope for anything. His brothers and sisters would be killed by the drug dealers, his family would be torn apart, and even if he got out, he wouldn't have the face to see his mother again.
Thinking of this, Phoenix felt he should be shot dead rather than trapped in solitary confinement enduring both physical and mental torture as he was now.
After James collected all the information, he suddenly asked, "Where is your home?"
Phoenix stared blankly, not responding.
James continued asking, "Don't you want those people to pay the price?"
The corner of Phoenix's eye twitched slightly.
"Perhaps your relatives haven't been harmed yet. At least they have to wait to receive news, right?"
Phoenix looked up at him and after a moment of silence said, "My home is in Alamo..."
Meanwhile, Lind was looking at the new reward he received from the sudden challenge.
[Sudden Challenge: A prisoner in the prison plans to threaten you with a hijacking operation. You naturally cannot let him succeed]
[Perfectly handled the hijacking incident, reward obtained: Basic Negotiation Skills]
[Basic Negotiation Skills acquired]
[Basic Negotiation Skills learned]
[Basic Negotiation Skills: When facing negotiation events, your words are more likely to gain the other party's agreement]
Lind found this skill very useful, so he reorganized his skills.
His current status panel was as follows:
[Lind Edward]
[Identity: Warden]
[Rating: 39 (Level C)]
[Skills: Advanced Wing Chun, Intermediate Marksmanship, Torture Interrogation, Intermediate Driving, Basic Negotiation Skills, Basic Weakness Assessment, Basic Force Intimidation, Basic Speech Eloquence]
His skill slots were full. If there were new skills, he could only replace the original old skills.
Skills like Advanced Horsemanship and Intermediate Driving seemed less useful to Lind.
He didn't need to participate in horse racing, and driving was now handled by the tactical squad. These two skills could be completely replaced with more useful ones.
So he replaced Advanced Horsemanship with Torture Interrogation.
When he drew useful skills later, he would also replace Intermediate Driving.
Not having driving skills didn't mean he couldn't drive, just that he drove averagely.
After Lind finished switching skills, he came to the solitary confinement door just as James walked out.
"Warden, Phoenix has told us everything."
Then he informed Lind of all the information from Phoenix.
After hearing the report, Lind squinted his eyes and glanced at his watch, "Got it. Are things arranged?"
"Everything is arranged." James nodded.
"Good."
Then Lind called Angelina over and had her investigate whether the resigned guard, Hans Adams, belonged to a drug trafficking organization.
If this guy was also threatened, Lind could slightly forgive his actions.
But if this guy was part of the drug dealers, then don't blame Lind for putting a hole in his head!
...
7 PM.
A Dodge pickup left Border Prison.
After December, the weather gradually cleared up, and the fog in Val Verde County had weakened considerably.
The snow on the road melted one after another, revealing withered yellow weeds and gravel.
Logically, after multiple incidents occurred outside the prison, passing vehicles would be doubly careful and speed up.
But the Dodge pickup's speed was neither fast nor slow along the way, seemingly completely unaware of possible risks.
Sure enough, when the vehicle reached a narrow road, two cars happened to stop at the intersection ahead, completely blocking the road.
Then two men in leather jackets got out of the cars. Their waists were bulging, and their faces were full of malicious expressions.
After seeing this scene, the Dodge pickup's driver decisively reversed, but another car appeared and blocked his way.
The Dodge pickup was trapped in the middle of the road, unable to move.
The leather jacket man walked to the right side of the wheel, raised his pistol at the driver, and said:
"Dear Warden, did you think you could avoid us by driving a broken car?"
He stared mockingly at the face under the driver's hat in the car window.
That's right, that was their target, Lind Edward.
Although Lind had disguised himself, unfortunately, they had people near the prison for the past two days. When this car appeared, they observed with binoculars for a moment and had already captured Lind's appearance.
Now it was time to make this warden pay the price for refusing Osiel.
"Roll down the window if you don't want to die."
After speaking, the leather jacket man came to the driver's side door, planning to pull Lind out of the car.
However, just as he put his hand on the car door, gunshots suddenly rang out from not far away!
"Bang!"
The leather jacket man instinctively wanted to crouch down, but the bullet was faster than his movement.
A .308 bullet directly blew open his temple, giving his head a through-and-through.
The originally arrogant bandit became a dead dog on the ground the next second.
Then gun flames emerged from the tarp covering the truck bed behind the pickup, directly killing the driver blocking the rear.
Subsequently, James and other tactical squad members burst out from the woods and fired wildly at these bandits.
Under orderly and reasonable tactical deployment, the other drug dealers collapsed at first contact and couldn't fight against regular troops at all.
Even if they relied on courage to stand up and return fire, they would quickly have their lives ended by the sound of Remington gunfire.
Inside the Dodge pickup, Lind half-lay in his seat, gripping a gun in his hand, not participating in the gunfight.
If it weren't to lure these bastards out, if it weren't for knowing that these drug dealers still needed a living Edward, he wouldn't have put himself at risk.
Fortunately, the results were good.
Three minutes later, the gunshots stopped.
Lind opened the door and got out.
James and Karen dragged two blood-covered drug dealers over like dragging dead dogs.
"Boss, there are still two survivors, their limbs have been broken."
Lind grabbed one drug dealer's hair and spat in his face, "Not so tough now? Son of a bitch, if you want my prison, then fucking fill it with your lives."
After saying this, he threw him aside, "Clean up the ground, let's go!"
"Yes!"
The tactical squad members quickly dragged all the corpses to the cars, diluted the blood on the ground with water, then split into several members to drive the vehicles. The group headed straight to their destination, Val Verde County.
