For your characters to go to the next level they need to have more depth and breadth of personalities than very simple raw emotions. Show us their drive, their dream, their struggle, their ups and their downs. Show us they are more than their bodies and their emotional journey and how they change because of our actions in front of eyes as the game progresses. Make them relatable, make your audience care about them and their lives and they will in turn move mountains for you.

If anything it shows that people truly enjoy the game you've created even if you seem to struggle to be proud of it. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, I love this game and I've supported it from one of the first updates until late last year. I hope with your new game you can get back to regular updates and communication like during the early stages of BL. I'm sure everything that happened has its reasons but if you intend to do this for a living you cannot go dark for months multiple times and keep missing your own deadlines over and over.
