HUN Chapter 64: The Record-Breaking Big Fish
Added 2025-08-04 04:47:36 +0000 UTCAfter finishing a bowl of rich, milky white fish head soup, Lin Yu'an felt all his fatigue swept away. His whole body felt warm and thoroughly satisfied from inside out.
He carefully moved the remaining fish head soup in the pot next to the stove, planning to save it for the next day.
Then, carrying that brand new Pacific yew fishing rod, he enthusiastically returned to the fishing platform once again.
Lin Yu'an said confidently to the camera, "Guys, that big lake trout earlier was just an appetizer!"
"I feel like my technique has improved again! Let's keep going and see what other good stuff we can catch!"
He came to the fishing platform again, baited the hook with fresh blood bait, and cast the line into the water with a graceful motion.
Then he waited expectantly.
However, things developed completely beyond his expectations.
From afternoon until the sun was about to set, the float remained motionless on the calm lake surface, and the fishing line didn't transmit even the slightest movement.
This was very strange! Lin Yu'an frowned slightly. His enhanced "sixth sense" told him there were plenty of fish underwater!
He could even sense several sizeable "shadows" lingering around the area where he had created his fishing spot, but they just wouldn't bite.
He changed the blood bait several times and tried different fishing spots, but the results were all the same.
Finally, when it was almost completely dark, he returned to his shelter feeling thoroughly frustrated.
While leisurely weaving a larger willow fish basket by the stove, he became increasingly annoyed thinking about it.
"This doesn't make sense! Same fishing spot, same blood bait, why won't they bite anymore?"
He muttered to himself, making the willow branches in his hands creak as he wove them.
"Could it be that fishing really depends on mysticism? Must it be a new fishing rod?"
That night, Lin Yu'an fell asleep with the deep confusion shared by all fishing enthusiasts.
Day fifty-four.
In the morning, Lin Yu'an woke up from his warm shelter.
He walked to the stove and looked at the fish head soup that had cooled overnight, its surface now covered with a thick layer of white fish jelly, and fell into contemplation.
That strong fishy smell, even with the addition of wild onions and deer fat, still lingered stubbornly.
He tasted another spoonful of the reheated fish jelly, and that fishy smell shot straight to the top of his head.
"This is really too disgusting..."
Lin Yu'an looked at the remaining fish jelly with disgust and threw it all back into the clay pot.
"After cooling, without enough seasoning, there's no way to suppress this fishy smell."
After an intense internal struggle, he decided to abandon this "dark cuisine" and temporarily store it in his space to collect dust.
For breakfast, he still pan-fried some tender fish fillets for himself.
After finishing breakfast, Lin Yu'an looked at the yew fishing rod in the corner, and that stubborn streak rose up in him again.
"No way, I have to try again today!"
A ridiculous yet mystical idea formed in his mind.
He decided to try some mysticism again today!
Then he walked to the woods outside his shelter and casually broke off a willow sapling about two meters long that looked completely ordinary.
He used his knife to simply trim off the branches, didn't even remove the bark, and just tied a length of fishing line and a hook to the tip.
"If new rods have mystical power, then I'll just make another new rod!"
Lin Yu'an held up that extremely crude sapling fishing rod with an expression of desperate resignation.
"I don't believe it. I'm definitely relying on skill, not some 'new rod aura' nonsense!"
He returned to the fishing platform again, baited it with the same blood bait, didn't even create a fishing spot, and just casually cast the hook out.
The hook with bait fell into the water with a "splash," the motion completely lacking any aesthetic appeal.
However, just as the hook had barely sunk into the water, before the fishing line had even fully tightened,
"Buzz——!"
A force even more violent and brutal than yesterday's suddenly came from underwater!
That poor willow sapling fishing rod didn't even have time to form a proper bend before it snapped under the tremendous pull!
It was instantly torn into two pieces!
"Crack——!"
"Holy shit!"
Lin Yu'an reacted quickly. The instant the rod broke, he lunged forward and grabbed the half that was about to be dragged into the water!
With his gloved hands, he tightly wound the fishing line around them, and his other hand quickly followed suit.
A tremendous force like an avalanche transmitted directly through the fishing line, almost dragging his entire body off the fishing platform!
"This... this new rod aura is way too mystical!"
Lin Yu'an gripped the fishing line tightly while frantically complaining.
He planted his feet firmly in a horse stance, leaned his body backward, and engaged in the most primitive, direct "tug of war" with the giant creature underwater!
This time, without the elastic cushioning of the yew fishing rod, all the force was brutally transmitted to his arms and body.
Even wearing gloves, he could clearly feel the brutal pulling force transmitted through the fishing line in his palms.
The creature underwater was obviously more violent and brutal than yesterday's lake trout.
It didn't spend much time swimming around and testing, but frantically and irregularly charged left and right underwater, rolling like an enraged bull in the water!
And that instantaneous explosive pulling force made Lin Yu'an feel like his arm joints were about to be torn from their sockets!
"Roar——!"
A suppressed growl emerged from Lin Yu'an's throat, wishing he could channel all his body's strength into his arms.
At this moment, he couldn't care less about whether the hook would come loose or the line would break.
A primitive desire to conquer and stubborn refusal to give up was completely unleashed!
Only one thought remained in his mind, to forcibly drag this big guy underwater up to shore!
Lin Yu'an stopped being passively defensive and began to actively exert force.
Taking advantage of a brief moment when the giant creature's charging force was exhausted, the muscles in his arms suddenly swelled, his waist and back exerted force, and he began to forcibly pull the line backward!
He didn't reel in inch by inch, but yanked backward half a meter all at once.
Then he quickly used his other hand to wrap the retrieved fishing line around his arm once, then continued exerting force!
The giant creature underwater obviously hadn't expected its opponent to be so aggressive, and immediately erupted into even more frenzied struggling!
"Splash——!"
Huge water splashes suddenly exploded in front of the fishing platform! A massive shadow even larger and more ferocious than yesterday's lake trout was forcibly dragged half out of the water by Lin Yu'an!
It was a giant northern pike with an extremely robust body, covered in peculiar yellow-green spotted patterns, its mouth full of sharp teeth!
It frantically shook its massive head on the water surface, trying to bite through the fishing line with those razor-sharp teeth.
Lin Yu'an didn't give it any chance to dive down again!
He exploded with full force once more, rapidly dragging the fishing line backward while pushing off the fishing platform with both feet, retreating step by step toward the shore!
He forcibly dragged that giant northern pike, still violently twisting and struggling, from the water onto the shore!
When that massive body completely left the water and was dragged onto the rocks and mud of the shoreline, Lin Yu'an also seemed to be drained of all his strength.
With a "thump," he sat down on a rock by the shore.
"Huff... huff... huff..."
His chest heaved violently as he gasped for air, his arms trembling uncontrollably from the prolonged extreme exertion.
He looked at this big guy at his feet, over a meter long, estimated to weigh at least twenty-five pounds, still weakly opening and closing that terrifying huge mouth.
His face showed both exhaustion and an uncontrollable grin like a fool.
"Guys, the new rod mysticism... really does work..."
