SUP Chapter 43: Strange Water Plant! Green-Skinned Warrior!
Added 2025-07-31 11:05:11 +0000 UTCThe Flash's encounter was ultimately something Ian would never know about.
High in the sky, in the cold wind.
"What are you doing! Are you afraid people won't know you've committed the serious crime of robbery before?" After flying to a sufficient height, Kara couldn't hold back her complaints anymore.
Ian had plenty of reasons though.
"Come on! I saw the reporter! Be a reasonable cousin, okay? I don't have your magic glasses, so I need some way to protect my privacy and identity!"
"A handsome boy like me... they'd figure out who I am in 2 minutes of human flesh searching. Then it wouldn't just be my dad, I'm afraid even your real identity would be exposed."
This was indeed a reason that was hard for Kara to refute.
"..."
But Kara still felt extremely speechless.
"You carry stockings with you?"
She increasingly felt that Ian was more professional than a seasoned robber.
"Are you kidding? I'm not a pervert, how could I possibly carry such things around... I was clever enough to know how to adapt, I rummaged through a passenger's fallen luggage."
"To avoid you judging others by yourself, cousin, I must clarify that it was still unopened when I got it!" Ian pulled the stocking off his head in one motion.
He didn't throw it away.
Instead, he felt around his torn pocket, then directly tied the stocking around his waist. His cousin's words reminded the young man that carrying some small props was never wrong.
"We need to fly north." Taking out his map, Ian prepared to start giving Kara directions. Kara, who had previously wanted to send Ian straight home, didn't stop him this time. Through her conversation with the reporter among the passengers, she also realized that Ian might not be having delusions and spouting nonsense.
"According to my investigation, the sewage plant at this location is the most suspicious. It was only built last year, and it's built right next to the water treatment plant. Anyone who's studied urban planning knows this is unreasonable."
Ian pointed at the map.
"Aren't you not even in high school yet? What urban management could you have learned?"
Kara looked somewhat suspicious.
Ian was righteous and confident.
"I've played Cities: Skylines. Do you understand the value of a five-star mayor!" He wasn't trying to show off, so after explaining, he pointed at the map again.
"Here, cousin, fly toward here."
"Touch again and see if I actually have eyes growing on the back of my head." Kara was speechless. Although she had a super brain, she didn't usually memorize maps and layouts of other cities.
"You don't even have Kryptonian telekinesis?"
Ian frowned.
Kara was completely confused.
"No... should I have that?"
She was extremely unfamiliar with the term Ian mentioned, increasingly suspicious of what exactly Clark was teaching the children. Could it be that Clark had mutated more severely than her because he'd been on Earth longer?
"Fine, then I'll hold the map in front of your eyes." Ian acted while expressing great disappointment. Among cosmic beings, it seemed Ultraman was still superior.
"Showing me the map doesn't mean covering my eyes with the map! Give it here!" Kara had no choice but to snatch the map from Ian's hands herself to confirm the direction.
"My arms are short."
Ian responded matter-of-factly.
"..."
Kara once again felt deeply powerless.
Her speed was very fast.
Before Ian could even calculate how much experience he could gain from jumping from such a height, Kara had already arrived at the sewage plant shown on the map.
"Bang!"
An almost vertical landing.
Kara landed in front of the rusty metal gate of the sewage treatment plant. Ian also smoothly jumped down from her back to the ground, skillfully putting the stocking from his waist back over his head.
"..."
Kara found this hard to comment on.
She vigorously rubbed her temples, didn't bother with any more meaningless persuasion, turned and walked toward the sewage plant, directly pushing open the six-meter-high metal door with one hand.
The hinges let out an ear-piercing groan.
That sound was like some kind of painful wail.
Inside the door, the pungent smell of disinfectant mixed with sewage hit them, making Kara involuntarily wrinkle her super nose. Ian also directly covered his mouth and nose. His voice through the stocking filter was muffled, carrying a shocked feeling, lower in tone than usual.
"Ugh, this smell is exactly like stewing durian in a pot with stinky socks." He always had these wonderful metaphors that could make people feel immersed while unable to imagine how he came up with such magical comparisons.
More than a dozen workers in orange work clothes were busy in the plant area. When they saw the suddenly appearing Supergirl and the stocking-headed man, they all stopped their work and cast curious glances.
No one came forward to inquire. Everyone was busy with their own work. If they hadn't seen Supergirl, who could only be seen on TV, these hardworking workers might not have even looked at them.
After all, work was far more important than chasing stars. Supergirl was nothing special in Metropolis.
"How is it?"
Ian asked. It would be impossible to say he wasn't nervous.
However, due to the existence of his immortality buff, Ian was both nervous and eager to try. He had a intuition that he could definitely level up several times here.
"Let me see."
Kara raised her hand to signal Ian to wait, her eyes began focusing, her super vision scanning the entire plant area. Filtration pools, sedimentation tanks, disinfection equipment... everything seemed to be operating normally.
"There's nothing wrong."
Kara withdrew her gaze, looking at Ian in confusion.
"It's not here... that can't be right. My super intelligence is clearly telling me there's definitely a problem here." Ian frowned, raising the electronic device in his hand.
"It's also a Lex Corp subsidiary. All the buffs are stacked." Ian waved the information he had just searched, but Kara's first focus was somewhat special.
"You're actually using the same phone model as me!"
Kara's tone was surprised.
She was about to say this might be the bond of blood.
"I don't have my own phone yet. This is your phone, cousin... I borrowed it for a bit." Ian blinked. His words directly froze the smile on Kara's face.
"I was wondering why you touched me twice just now!"
Kara realized belatedly.
She was extremely speechless about Ian.
Her gaze finally looked at the information on the phone: Metropolis New Concept Sewage Plant, wholly-owned subsidiary of Lex Corp, may handle 70% of the city's industrial wastewater treatment for free in the future!
This news made Kara's eyes flicker.
LexCorp had always had a stable reputation in superhero circles.
Even more stable than Boeing.
"You're right. Luthor couldn't possibly be doing real charity. He always has his own schemes and ideas when he does things." Kara felt she should perhaps examine this waste plant more carefully.
To this, Ian deeply agreed.
"Right, right! I'd even bet that if Luthor taking social responsibility doesn't have some conspiracy, I'd immediately go next door to Gotham and hire the Joker as my psychologist!"
He spoke righteously.
After hearing this, Kara's expression became strange.
"Why would you reward yourself?" You could tell that after a brief half-day of interaction, her attitude toward this nephew was no longer about bias or lack thereof.
"??????"
Ian's face flushed red.
He was somewhat angry.
He was about to refute fiercely.
"Urgh urgh urgh~"
Just then, violent dry heaving interrupted their conversation. Not far away, a thin worker suddenly knelt on the ground, clutching his throat and making choking "urgh urgh" sounds.
Colleagues around him immediately gathered.
"Mike! What's wrong with you?"
A friend began showing concern.
But worker Mike didn't answer. He suddenly spewed out a mouthful of dark green vomit that splattered on the cement ground with a "splat." The dark green vomit seemed to carry a green fluorescence.
Not only that, those half-digested food remnants actually made a "hiss" corrosive sound when they touched the ground. The hard cement floor was burned through, continuously emitting wisps of black smoke.
"No!"
The worker who had been concerned about his friend, and other helpful colleagues around, seeing this situation, were all shocked and scattered in panic like startled ants.
"It's that situation! The kind that appeared yesterday! It must be some kind of infectious disease!" Someone shouted in terror, abandoning work and running straight toward the gate.
They looked truly frightened.
"What's happening?"
Kara wanted to grab a worker to ask.
"Infectious disease! A terrible infectious disease! Even Superman got infected!" This worker only gave a fearful warning, then desperately struggled to get away from that "patient."
Kara could only reluctantly let him go.
"Sir, are you alright?"
Although she didn't have the plums Ian wanted to see, she still spoke the famous line while maintaining vigilance, carefully approaching the worker kneeling and vomiting.
Hearing this, worker Mike raised his head.
"Save me!"
The man's voice was desperate and hoarse.
His eyeballs had turned a cloudy white, and green substances were vaguely flowing under his skin. The man opened his mouth wanting to say something else, but only let out an inhuman howl. This man was undergoing extremely rapid mutation. Green energy was exploding within his body—sinister, terrifying.
With extremely strong corrosion to biological genes.
"Workers! Never slaves!"
The man was roaring.
Ian felt the dialogue seemed familiar.
