Months pass, and Elroy is on a mission to obtain a new scouting merit badge, having quickly become bored with retro-electronics. In the simplest terms, his newest quest involves hologram technology. Not that old light field floating in space like they did back in the 20th Century, the stuff of cheesy album covers and merchandise labels. Communication devices (think Star Wars) had been around for a decade, but it wasn't fully fourth-dimensional...yes, you could see it in three dimensions, but you couldn't physically touch it.

As usual, Jane finds herself being used as Elroy's guinea pig, on her hands and knees in the middle of the young man's bedroom.

Elroy: Now, just relax. You might feel a bit of pressure at first.
