There are other Ghibli movies that I prefer, but this was always my childhood favorite. Easily up there with stories like Treasure Island as one of the best pure adventure stories ever told. It is also one of the most referenced movies in Japanese media once you start looking for it. Insanely iconic. Famously, it airs yearly on Nippon TV's Friday Roadshow movie slot every summer vacation and everyone tweets/posts the spell to destroy the castle simultaneously. I'd guess it and Spirited Away are probably the most seen Ghibli movies statistically in Japan.
