Thank you for the comment and kind words!
I loved Sakura and his growth in this episode! His laugh! Protect this bean!
Umemiya just wants everyone to know how hard he and Sugi have worked on this garden.
I love Anzai and Sakura got to have that full circle moment as well!
And both of them getting character development - we love to see it!
And you are welcome - I love how this show handles the topic of trauma and presents it in such a layered but digestible manner! Oohhh and the 100 Meters tie-in is so interesting! Yes! Loving that crossover! I really want to know more about Zaitsu from the manga (hopefully) one day!
Tsubaki is herrrreeeee and I cannot wait for more!! 😀

I’ve been WAITING to see Tsubaki for so long!
The episode from top to bottom is fantastic – I love that Sakura was always able to safely land on the ground – that’s such a good message about support! It’s so good and I’m proud of him, too!
The class talking to Sakura was so sweet as well! Especially with Anzai being the one to give him “the talk,” which was a nice parallel to episodes prior! Sakura is such a bean and must be protected!
I cannot wait to get more of Tsubaki and hopefully more Tsubaki and Umemiya down the line! Thank you for the comment!

I love Tsubaki so much!! Ugh, homophobia and toxic masculinity making those reviewers insecure…seriously. WTH. That sucks, because this episode is SO good! Thank you for the comment!

Loved the reaction and discussion! Another amazing episode and love how much it connected for you. 🥰
Various things I adored:
That they're in the: “'Saving The Town' club” 😆
The clarity of the windchime among all that darkness
Sakura stepping so carefully towards his class 😭
“Are you gonna drop off some protein” poor Tsuge is never getting off that train 😆
The entire construction of the first half the episode with Sakura trying to gather his courage and speak up and Sugi breaking the tension
Sakura’s sweetest laugh! 🥰
Ume just organising get-togethers to show off the plants 🤣
Tsubaki finally getting an introduction! 🥰
I think most of all in this episode I loved that Anzai is the one who really “explains” to Sakura how they all feel. Anzai had just gone through it with Nagato, while trying to figure out what had happened to his friend and why Nagato was doing the things he was doing with KEEL. And now Anzai puts this understanding into practice with Sakura so well. Anzai was also the one who was hiding things and trying to handle everything himself at the end of the last season, so seeing that he also has learned so much over the past few episodes is so wonderful. 🥹
I love that in this show the “learning” is not only limited to the MC, as well. So, to me, when it is Anzai who says “But what of it?” in response to Sakura’s claims about being lame, or says “We did the same thing to you, and when you do it to us, why do you have to apologise?” and points out the double standard for Sakura vs everyone else – it really shows how deeply Anzai understood the issues with what he himself was doing earlier. I love it. 🥰
I really appreciated the elements of the discussion around how difficult it can be when trauma really fucks with someone’s perception of what is okay and what is not, thank you for that. 🫶
Also excellent discussion around the visuals of Sakura’s fear, that whole sequence consistently makes me cry – the creators did such a great job with handling Sakura’s expressions there, it is clear they love him the way we all do. 🥹 I really want to bring in 100 Meters here and Zaitsu’s philosophy, because what is shown as Sakura’s POV is really what I think Zaitsu imagines he is talking about but is not actually experiencing. And maybe Zaitsu sees the same and yet is able to detach himself physiologically, take the leap without it feeling like the walls and the darkness are closing in. Or maybe he experiences the latter (the tightrope barely off the ground, the field bathed in light) and describes it as the former. Zaitsu remains a curious mystery to me! 😆
Cannot wait for next week! 🌸

Tsubaki!!! The queen has entered! Tsubaki is one of my favorite characters in WB, and being someone who doesn't fit the norm myself, makes me love them even more.
Also I recently learned this episode is rated a 5/10 on IMDB, you can guess why. Despite most of the episode being a heartfelt story about Sakura finally feeling free and finding a place of his own, Tsubaki exists and therefore the episode is bad. It's unfortunate that people think that way.

I'll be honest, I've been waiting to see your reaction to this episode since the season started - heck, since the previous season - and finally having it here was amazing.
Tsubakino is the best! I'm glad that now we can start talking about them more xD
Look, with the way that Umemiya looks at Tsubaki when they are talking to Sakura and the rest of them, with the softest eyes ever, I am a complete Tsubakino/Umemiya shipper. Umemiya deserves someone that would sing their praises to high heavens, which we see Tsubakino do here with his soup; and Tsubakino deserves someone that loves all of them without judgment, which we know that Umemiya does to all his friends. So, yeah, I ship them a lot.
Okay, no, the beginning of this episode is actually so amazing.
Something I hadn't noticed, and I saw a discussion about it somewhere, is that the whole tighrope illustration is something that we see with Sakura in the very first episode of the show, at the very beginning. We are introduced to Sakura with the idea that he is walking in this tightrope all the time, and he is barely clinging to it. And now, two seasons in, he is finally able to let go of that tightrope and see himself landing on safe ground, among friends. I love it. Sakura truly has grown so much, but that growth comes with so much fear, and it's so unnerving, and yet, he is willing to do it now. I'm so proud.
I love that it was the whole class who talked to Sakura, that they all come together to talk sense into him and teach him that he is not alone; and that it wasn't only the main core of friends. Yes, of course, we have a main core of characters that we will focus more on, but for Sakura's story, every single one of these boys are important, they all make a difference. And it fits even better that it's Anzai who does more of the speaking, as he is our gateway into the rest of the class, plain-looking and blending in with the rest of the cast, but still having his own story and arc because he is just as important.
Sakura blushing at any show of affection is so adorable. He is the most innocent precious angel and he must be protected at all times.
