I love this episode so much as well - very simple but effective!! And oohhhhh, he DOES center the coffee cup - I thought it was to bring notice to that logo, but it’s really to bring notice to his OCD perfectionism…that’s crazy! And yes, the way that the followers’ trust has affected their everyday lives is pretty terrifying! And seeing it done in all these manners is really effective for us the audience to empathize with them all. Li Haolin is so good at just making us pay attention to EVERY. FRAME. Almost – he’s so good at adding in all those little details! Thank you for the comment!

One little detail that I LOVE is how at the beginning of the episode, when Lin Ling is talking to Ms. J, we see him adjusting his coffee cup so that the logo is centered and straight. I just love the little touch where you can see that his OCD and perfectionism are ramping up, before he goes ahead and mentions it at the end of the episode. Mostly, this episode is the one where I could really understand the horrors of what people's Trust made to the heroes, and how utterly horrific it is. Like, yes, we already could see the effects settling on Lin Ling, and we saw them shackling Moon to Nice, and both those things were disturbing on their own rights, but there is something about seeing this man completely incapable of bending down, having that affect his sleep even, that just drives it home so expertly to me. I just LOVE all those little details that this show has. Li Haoling really loves making every frame count in his shows, and you just have to pay attention to catch all the little things.
