Wind Breaker Season 2: Episode 4 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Wind Breaker Season 2: Episode 4 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

This episode was my jam as well! I felt so much for Sakura and him not knowing what to do with his teammates wanting to help him! I honestly did not anticipate Kaji being in this episode (and series actually) the way that he was, and that was the best! Kaji is honestly a great mentor for Sakura in how similar they are. I love the “generational” help that Kaji provides as well - it’s great! Plus, of course we are here for the generational assistance from Hiragi to Kaji - I loved that! I agree about Suo as well - and yes, a conversation between Suo and Sakura needs to happen at some point! And I am DYING to know the backstory with Umemiya and Kotoha, but I feel that’s way down the road at this point. Yes, at least Sakura is getting the knowledge that he has a support system! Thank you for the comment!

Thank you for the comment and kind words! This episode was a lot of fun! Sakura’s class are just so kind and sweet! I would probably have been Nirei if I’d seen Sakura’s living conditions as well, though. I love Sakura is this stray cat everyone has taken under their wing! Kaji getting so much screentime was unexpected but so welcome in this series! I LOVE how Kaji could not handle Umemiya’s praise – proving Ume is even a tsundere’s kryptonite! And yes, this series does so well to show how things take time in that Sakura is processing in different ways and stages, yes! I love that little “micro-shift” as you call it! I love what this series is doing to show us Sakura’s growth and how Kaji and Hiragi represent this generational chain of healing. I was obsessed with how the show tied them together! Thank you for the comment and SO READY for this coming week!

Oh! This episode was my jam! I love it every time that we have a character being vulnerable and sick like this in any media xD And, I mean, all the discussion points about Sakura's floundering about friendship and relying on others is also so very good. My favorite part of the episode is Sakura's conversation with Kaji, by far. It's just, the way that Kaji is able to confront the lies that Sakura is telling himself is so seamless; just a bit harsh but still coming from an obvious place of understanding that makes Sakura pay attention. I just love that Sakura has taken a shine to Kaji as his mentor, and feels comfortable asking him questions. Yes! Sakura needed, so badly to hear that just because he is not willing to acknowledge the places where he needs help that won't make them disappear. Kaji's little illustration - or should I say Hiragi's illustration? xD - was the perfect way for Sakura to visually understand what was being said to him. And, well, I love that we keep the theme that important lessons are given to Sakura with coffee analogies, even if this time around it wasn't Kotoha imparting the wisdom - though she did her fair share this episode already. I appreciate that Suo understood that it would overwhelm Sakura to try and stay to take care of him, I agree that was what most likely would have happened; but, I do hope that Suo was planning to address it with him at some point, because Sakura needed someone to teach him how to use the smart phone, as much as he needed to know that one existed. Sakura did get people to help explain how to use the tools that he is discovering, so that's nice, but I hope that Suo understands that a next step was needed. Yeah... I never got the impression that Sakura lived with his parents. I would have been very surprised if he had turned out to be living with his parents, or at least one parent. I hope that he can talk about that whole situation with Umemiya or Kotoha at some point. In the mean time, I'm just so happy to see my boy Sakura get the comfort he needed and all the support.

Loved the reaction and discussion! And it was such a delight how much you loved this episode. 🥰 Various moments I loved: The whole intro with the classmates – they are all such sweet beans! 🥰 Nirei having a crash out over seeing where Sakura lived The literal cat!Sakura 🤣 Kotoha looking after Sakura, too Kaji’s classmates teasing him 😆 Kaji’s struggling a little with how to recreate the mise-en-scene to make sure the talk works, everything had to be just right 🤣 Love when you affectionately complain about characters communicating well and therefore “stealing discussion points” 🤣 Sakura freaking out over Kaji saying everyone knows he’s frightened Ume being so proud! And Kaji having a five-stage-freak-out about it 😆 One of the things I truly adore about this show, is that (much like Natsume) it doesn’t skirt around the fact that healing, or coming to some new sort of emotional truth or conclusion, can really take time and work. How many times have different characters advised Sakura to “look at others” over all the episodes so far? He heard them the other times, but each time we see how differently Sakura himself processes their guidance. In both series there is a such a strong focus on micro-shifts in people’s emotional well-being, and I think that is very realistic and important to show. And of course noting the way Sakura’s impulse to assume the worst really shows up here, loved that it came up in discussion and we had many conversations about this for Natsume episodes, as well. Sakura really is learning and growing, and it is just so wonderful to watch. 🥰 In the previous episode you literally predicted the Kaji/Hiragi scene, wanted to save noting that for this episode. Great discussion around Kaji working to ‘pay it forward.’ That was such an emotional moment getting that little flashback, very nicely constructed with the soundtrack, as well, I always tear up there. Cannot wait for next week! 🌸
