WIND BREAKER: Episode 8 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Yessss, Love this episode so much!! The “Rule of 8” does not let us down, does it?! I really enjoyed the OST this episode; which is good to know moving forward! Ooohhhh, love that symbolism with the light that you mention! That’s also an interesting note about WHY everyone was so quiet; that’s a really neat point to bring up! I LOVE the moment Sakura went after Choji - one of the best in the episode! It’s so good! And yes, it connects so well with Sakura’s inner kindness and him getting to “understand” Toji! And honestly, this episode planted the Togame and Sakura seeds hahaha, I’m just in slight denial now! ;) We’ll see where that goes. And Choji is just ENERGY AND CHAOS! I love the OP so much, especially the visuals for this series! <3 And hey, NO WORRIES! Even if you get to an episode a week or two later, I will NEVER consider a comment “late” or not read it (as long as there’s no spoilers) - I’m so glad you’re enjoying the reactions and my rambles! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Thank you for the comment and kind words! This was such a good episode! Rule of 8, indeed! It doesn’t let us down! Nirei is me and I am Nirei! I love how the environment adjusts to the tension of the episode! Y’all KNOW I had to reference Mignon! 😛 Drone warfare is such a trigger topic for me, so it fit for the moment - glad it worked for you all as an example! The Sakura and Togame ship starts here for me, hahaha! The seeds are planted! Especially after your note after the emotional layering comment, which the emotional layering this series does is really effective, I agree! That’s a great point to bring up! I see the vision! Thank you again for the kind words - this show just EXUDES infectious energy!! I cannot wait for these episodes to come! <3 Let’s goooo!

This episode truly makes justice to the rule of 8, as it's one of the best episodes of the season. The soundtrack for this show is so good, yes! I remember really enjoying it when I first watched the show, which usually I don't; usually, I'll be concentrating so hard on a show that the music would fade to the background, and I would only get to enjoy it upon a rewatch, well, not with this show. The soundtrack is always something that enjoy a lot with the different fights. One shot that I really love is the one with Sakura facing Togame, and the light from the theater illumintaing them and making everyone else disappear. Now who they truly are is coming out, and that dispels the darkness in Togame, and Sakura's really, lives. Maybe the rest of Shishitoren was silent while Sakura and Togame fought because, as Choji says, they're weak and couldn't quite understand how interesting and deep that fight was. Nirei is our untrained bean from Furin, and he says that he has no idea what's going on; except, because Furin isn't obsessed with "strength", Nirei was able to understand the underlining emotion in the fight; something that I don't think the rest of Shishitoren would have been able to do with how Choji. with Togame enforcing it, just wanted them to win fights without caring about the way they did it, or the nuance of those fights. Do I think there's no potential or good fighters in Shishitoren? No, but I do think than rather than help them grow, Choji's ways stunted them into thinking that a show of brutality is the same as strength, and now they're finding out that's not quite right. Sakura going for the blow after Choji hit Togame is such a raw moment, and another favorite of mine. The raw emotion in Sakura's face is drawn so well, his disbelief and fury, and it all connects so beautifully with Sakura's inner kindness that has been so long repressed - as we've seen in multiple ocasions already - and the way he understood Togame through this fight, even if he understands that he himself would never act that way. Honestly, I lowkey ship Togame and Sakura; their chemestry this episode is amazing, and I think they're really nice foils for each other. Choji fighting like a wild monkey is so much fun. Seeing him climbing Umemiya will never get old. Truly energy personified. I didn't get the chance to say it last week, but the OP for this show is so good! Those camera angles are so much fun, and it works so well with the way that Sakura's world has been going upside down ever since he came to Furin. And the song is amazing as well, still one I love. P.S. I've had such a busy week that I'm only now having some time to go over these reactions, but I love them so much that finally being able to watch them is honestly a higlight of my week, and so refreshing.

Loved the reaction and discussion! What a spectacular episode! Rule of 8! Rule of 8! 🎉 Various things I loved: Consistently all the Nirei reactions! Especially how moved he was. 🥰 Choji just using Umemiya like a jungle gym. “Limber as a little noodle” 😆 The gradual change of atmosphere across episodes 7 and 8 – with each layer revealed, the rain coming down harder and then another drastic shift when Choji is on the stage. Mignon reference! Also, I did not expect drone-warfare to come up in the discussion - but it makes perfect sense as an example. Sakura and Togame just getting to enjoy themselves a little. 😆 And Sakura being a cranky bean going 'WTF?!' about Togame pulling the punch at the end. 😆 Most of all, I loved the continued emotional layering that includes the flashbacks. They did modify the shots we saw in the previous episode, you are right, and I love that so much. And to me it works wonderfully as a bit of a mystery, too – are we seeing what really happened now as opposed to what we saw before, or what it felt like to Togame on the inside, or is it him now understanding the context of what he was truly feeling in that moment. I ultimately think it’s a slow reveal of the emotional truth and reality of that moment – but love the way it can be read multiple ways just because of the construction of the episodes. 🥰 And there was something addressed beautifully in the discussion in the previous episode that I did not want to highlight until we were done with this one – the discussion around identity and power (having to have power to establish and fulfil an identity). Love the way in this episode those layers continue to show that Togame thought himself powerless. He was monologuing at himself in Sakura during episode 7, I feel: “When you’re alone, you don’t have a voice, do you?” And in that moment, Sakura showed him the other way. And, I mean… in this episode, when Togame seems to have regained that part of himself which has a voice, the first thing he really says is Sakura’s name… Did I have to bring that around to my TogaSaku ship? I certainly did. 🤣 And seeing Sakura’s reaction to Choji’s attack on Togame after?! Thank you, show. 🥰 Your excitement during this episode was particularly infectious, love to see it! 🥰 Cannot wait for next week! 🌸
