CHIHAYAFURU Season 2: Episode 12 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*SUMMERTIME HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Mizusawa faces off against the First Akashi's Girls team and it's led by a contender for the Queen title: Megumu! Chihaya has a lot riding on her facing the ace of the opposing team, but I am in awe of how our girl is holding her own...and how "Oe-senpai" has shown they're a true support MVP in this tournament!

CHIHAYAFURU Season 2: Episode 12 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

What a way to start this match, that’s for sure! Megumu is strange and it’s hard to see what she wants for herself, yes! And yes, contrasting with Chihaya is fun! I agree with all your points about Chihaya and how she seems versus what we’ve learned about her and on the outside, Megumu seems like a difference version of the same “apple” that Chihaya is, but I agree, I prefer the rivalry with Shinobu for her! But yeah, the game is definitely up in the air as to how it will go, but I have my theories hahaha, as you’ve seen in the discussion! And Kano is so wonderful! I love her, especially in this episode – thank you for the comment! This match is being one for the series so far!

This match was certainly not what I was expecting. Megumu is such a weird character, full of contradictions that I haven't seen often in one single character; her arrogance and confidence is even more interesting when contrasted with her team's single-minded desire to see her as the new Queen. And she does use the opportunities that her team give her to the max, using all the experience she gets to get better, but but I can't quite tell what she wants for herself. Contrasting Megumu with Chihaya makes a very interesting mix, for most of the previous reasons. Chihaya, as well, is portrayed as clumsy and an airhead, with most of everyone thinking her unreliable, but we know that while true, those attributes barely scratch the surface; Chihaya is very intellignet and careful, and even, dare I say ladylike and gentle, but it is about the things that she cares about, and I refuse to say only Karuta because she has proven that it's not true as she has also desplayed these qualities when it comes to her friends (even though her friends are all Karuta related, but I digress). Sure, she's not the most perceptive cookie out there, but her intentionality in Karuta speaks volumes about her; Not everyone has the same ability to be booksmart like Tsutomu and Taichi, but that doesn make her less sharp. She was called a "beauty in vain" because she doesn't meet the conventional way for people to meassure her smarts - specially in an academic-focus society as is Japan, but she is certainly quite capable and smart when it comes to the things she loves - coming up with strategies and adapting rapidly to new play styles - and that makes her a fascinating character. Megumu, for her part, seems to be close to Chihaya in personality - clumsy and airheaded, which presents a bit of a challenge. And, personally, as interesting as the match can be, I find Chihaya's challenge of Shinobu, who is different than her, more interesting of a rivalry for her. That is to say, this game is interesting and is keeping me on my toes, with no idea of who will win, but even all the backstory hasn't sold me on Megumu quite yet. Kanao truly is an amazing Karuta player, for how short a period of time she has been playing. She is reliable to always keep her cool, and while that doesn't always lead her to victory the gap between her and her oponents keeps getting shorter.
