I could not wait to dive into this episode and meet Umemiya more proper and I'm in love already with this horticulturally savvy man!
Of course, just as we start to get to know him, Sakura and the "gang" are confronted with some familiar - some new - faces, who are intent on causing some ruckus on the Bofurin turf!

But, also, do you mean to tell me she own the cafe herself already? Dang, that's impressive. I guess we have set up a sort of tournament arc, and that's so exciting. Sakura not knowing what to say when someone is relying in him like this was a funny little bit, but I'm so here for him gaining all this new experiences and floundering through them until they fit like a glove for him. Gosh, Suo is such a dramatic queen, living for the constant drama around him xD

Such a fun episode. 🥰 Various moments I loved: Ume’s proper introduction, featuring one of my favourite comic tropes – two people having two entirely different conversations. Poor Hiragi. 🤣 The number of your potential ships starting to grow exponentially 😆 Definitely agree that the characters in the background of any scene are so fun to watch! “Foaming at the mouth, dog noises” Sugi. He makes me laugh so much. 😆 Choji’s high-octane introduction! Something you noted in discussion is so important – these young people needing an outlet and that broader point. Bit of a tangent, but the place where I live (a pretty neglected region anyway, historically), up until a couple of years ago was impacted by over a decade of austerity policies. This entirely gutted funding for all manner of social programmes – community centres, after school activities of all types, even just places where people could be without having to spend money. All of it was entirely decimated and the region didn't have that many in the first place. And now, even if there was money to recreate these things, all the infrastructure to support it was completely destroyed. So we just get a lot more anti-social behaviour in our area and a whole bunch of people and politicians complaining about young people being so very horrible these days. Ugh. /endoftangent But it is also good to see how far Bofurin’s positive influence spreads, with Sasaki being such a sweet example. Love that he spoke up first when meeting Ume (even if from the fear of having to wait any longer), took responsibility, understood the consequences and then thanked the group later. 🥰 Cannot wait for next week! 🌸
