I loved this episode, with plenty to talk about, as we meet a new character who's been lurking in the OP and discover their backstory! There's allllll sorts of connections between them and characters from our past and the series is hinting at some very ominous and potentially tense things to come, so we shall seeeee!

Honestly, these last few weeks have been EXHAUSTING for many reasons, so I feel you. But YES, we have been in this cycle before, it’s good to remind oneself of that. This show honestly has been such a soul cleanse for me, to be honest…but more on that in the week or two to come! 😀 But yes, the insecurity and fear and danger they create…it’s very real and scary at times. Pure escapism is such a phrase! “Better dressed with new gizmos to distract them” - ugh, that pierces the heart! Ohhh, I had indeed forgotten about the women selling Xerox in the 70’s but I remember seeing “retro” ads for them in high school! That note about internalized misogyny is so true; my mother was the same, raising me to think for myself and be smart to not be taken advantage of…but I cannot imagine being 14 like Jolenta in that situation! Thank you for the kind words; but yes, Jolenta is so brave and strong for her age! I’m so excited for the episodes to come as we go into October! And that’s awesome about a knitting project! I’m working helping with speech coaching for the team and realizing how busy work is in October, but at least the shows I’m watching outside of work like this one are amazing! 2025-09-30 18:57:03 +0000 UTCI’m tired…. Are you tired? Wow what a couple of crazy weeks! I have to keep reminding myself that we have been here as a people before. This anime is a reminder of that! And we all survived the rapture…. Yes, us silly humans try to make a deity conform to our rules. I genuinely feel concern for these people. As a country, we are so insecure and afraid that we hang our hats on things that we think are not changing. A story as old as time. The danger is that they live for being raptured while ignoring problems of the real world. It’s pure escapism. I’m sure it was worse being a peasant in Poland in the 1400’s! So, not much has changed. The peasants are just better dressed now with new gizmos to distract them. This discussion on women is sooooo needed! I heard all sorts of things from my mom who entered the workforce in the 70’s selling computers for Xerox. Remember them? I have grappled with my own internalized misogyny on some level. Now, my mom always raised us to be independent and think for ourselves so where did this come from. Well, we get clues to this is all around us in media and society in general. We can’t get away from it. Because of the misogyny, we are in the mess we are in currently. Now I have never been put in a situation like Jolenta thank god! Another thing is she is young. 14 years old is still emotional immature and standing up for oneself to adult men, I’d crumble as well. I absolutely love her! Yeah manga readers had an idea but in the anime, you have voice confirmation. Definitely more of an advantage to read, plus there is no color so you can’t even compare hair colors! I often think about how our female ancestors were burned as witches or punished in other ways… I think that is wild but I can also see how that can happen if they are not valued as human beings. Jolenta is definitely in a unique position but it is also a dangerous one. Loved the discussion as always! Can’t wait for the next episode! September is almost over so I hope to have more time to myself to escape into my anime and manga! Hey, we have to do what we gotta do! I also have to finish a knitting project. Btw…. October is the best month ever! Looking forward to it! Watch October be bat shit crazy…..🤪
