THE SUMMER HIKARU DIED: Episode 10 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*TRUTH-SEEKING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Is this my favorite episode of the season so far? It's hard to pick when they've all been STELLAR, but we get answers, more questions, an antagonist cements their stake, and Yoshiki and Hikaru take the next step towards finding...as the title suggests, "Truth!" I loved the ride of this episode all it could lead towards theory-wise!

THE SUMMER HIKARU DIED: Episode 10 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Thank you for the comment and kind words! UGH, that’s so true - I hadn’t realized that it probably stuck with him that they’d view him as a monster and want to send him back…noooo….that’s so sad. 🙁 It also sucks you had a similar experience. Yeah, the mangaka is genius in putting these two storylines side by side so seamlessly! Ugh…I hate that we’re almost to the end of the season, with still so much mystery that’s left and story to tell. *cries in corner*

Given the rate the manga gets published at, it should finish up the back half in the next year. But considering anime production speed, unless they are really rushing it, that won’t be out for 2-3 probably.

Thank you for another amazing video! The part of this episode that really resonated with me was Hikaru ‘jokingly’ asking how the friend group would react if the spirit was with them now. And how hurt he looked when they responded with ‘that’s scary we’d obviously send it back where it belongs.’ It’s so familiar to the common queer experience of ‘jokingly’ asking friends how they’d react to a friend being queer in order to gauge how accepting of it they would be. When I ‘jokingly’ asked friends as a kid how they’d react to me being gay in my small town, I got a similar response and still remember how much it hurt. It really struck a cord to see that reflected in Hikaru with the indirect rejection of what he is. I love how well this mangaka can tell two stories at once - a literal story about ghosts and monsters, and the metaphorical story of growing up queer in a small town. I can’t applaud the writing enough.

I think they may not be enough material for the season two and they will have to wait a little bit more to gather more chapters. I love this episode because I LOVE mystery and especially macabre mystery and undercovering everything that is related to village's secret is probably one of my favourite themes in this series.
