DanDaDan does not let us down when it comes to going through a VARIETY of tones and emotions in one episode -- from a battle, to the aftermath, to the next phases -- I could NEVER have predicted the route this show was going to take us on, but of course, it's still "Bonkers in the Best Way!"

I do love Jiji taking after his mom - she feels like a real one and at least ONE of the parents seems to justify the zaniness - it reminds me of Bakugo Katsuki’s mom in MHA – in fact, this pairing feels a lot like that. And Okarun is kind of like Deku so…hm. Interesting. YES. Thank you. Yeah, at this point, I’ve almost given up talking about EE because the fandom loves him and feels for him and we’re supposed to root for him so what can we do? But yeah, I don’t feel bad for Jiji anymore - he chose this so let’s let the characters deal with the consequences, eh? Thank you for the comment and kind words! Onwards and upwards!

Yeah, as I lost my channel to a bot detecting issues with copyright five years ago, I’m still stressed from it and will not take chances, even though I know the fair use I’m doing in my discussions and reactions. But yeah, it’s wild! But yes, treat your customers like customers! You are preaching to the choir on this about Hayashii - it’s soooo good! And yay, shout out to Inu-Oh! AHAHAHAHA – Okarun as Askeladd and EE as Thorfinn? Well, the latter makes a LOT of connections and sense, surprisingly, but we know how that all goes down. ;) But yes, the “you can only fight me if you do impossible task” - so agree on that! YES, I don’t like the “nice weenie” comment - a lot of nervous laughter there - again, DDD toeing the line on what’s appropriate, but yeah, shoe on the other foot? Not cool, either. I’m veeeerrry curious where the show is going with the new character and I think season 1 had after-credit sequences, but I don’t remember any in this season so far!

2025-09-06 13:46:31 +0000 UTCJiji's mom might be crazy but we haven't seen anything hinting on the same thing for his dad, unless you count him chosing this particular pairing. 😜 At the very least it seems Jiji takes more after his mom. I feel a bit bad for Jiji but at this point his predicament is fully self chosen and not like he doesn't know what Evil Eye is all about now. And sure Jiji, is a good bean and doesn't want a conscious, intelligent being to die on his account, but there where other options.

It makes sense for sure, the copyright / fair use differences in Japan and the US and other countries may be even less enforced! I see reactors that have 100,000s subscribers put up videos with no filter on Patreon, I don't know if that's part of the reason behind their success, but I completely get feeling a bit disingenuous about doing that, so it's not pay me $5 a month to provide you pirated media to watch haha! I do get most people would prefer to not have the filter obscuring the video as well. I'm kinda surprised that all flies under the radar too, but I guess at some point it's akin to the Metallica days with napster and it's really not a great look suing high school kids out of their house and clothes for listening to your album. It all goes back to the argument of treat your customers like customers and not thieves I say! Why would I ever want to pay for your product if you're going to restrict it and put all sorts of protection in it to prevent me, the paying customer, from accessing it, meanwhile the free version has none of that crap and just works better? That's how to fail at business 101 IMO. So I totally agree with you, as I said in last week's comment the Hayashii song in the episode was the best song I've heard all year in anime, right up there with Inu-Oh songs. If I found out this band Ex Japan was the inspiration and they were cool and promoting it, I'd almost certainly have listened to them on Spotify, and had I liked what I heard, probably bought some albums or merch. But now? Nope. Not interested one bit. I wonder - where were all these protections to prevent others from releasing your work when MAPPA dropped the ball on Attack on Titan Season 4? I want the timeline where we don't switch away from WIT Studios haha! Because the change in art style is just so awful! But I'm mostly kidding. The whole bit Okarun does on Evil Eye - that's just so Askaladd and Thorfinn isn't it? You can only fight me when you do this impossible task. Not sure I vibe with Jiji's clothes being taken away in front of everyone and Grandma Seiko saying "nice weenie" to him, I feel like if you reversed the genders it would not fly one bit! Curious to see where we go next week, with our new character! Good job catching the end credit sequence - I don't think the show has ever had one prior?

Going into the episode I was expecting a bit of combat followed by some talk-no-jutsu but the actual resolution surpassed my expectations. It overall stabilizes the situation with Evil Eye without the need for some drastic emotional breakthrough that could easily feel too sudden. And all of the fun stuff later on not only made Evil Eye more likable and opened the door for more development but also served as a nice breather after a lot of tension under a constant threat. There are so many small (and yet great) character interactions packed into this episode it's hard to comment on. Like Momo hanging onto Jiji while pestering him for being bashful and jabbing Okarun while expecting more from their goodbyes, Aira fighting with Momo and playing with Chiquitita every chance she gets, Seiko having trouble accepting help but taking a pause seeing how genuine Okarun is, Hana... standing. The list goes on and on and I feel like all of those moments really breathe life into the series.
