Whiteboard-kun is getting a WORKOUT today, as we not only meet a slew of new characters, but the pacing and character work surrounding Okarin has me questioning every little moment that's halfway awry...and that's before we even get to the talk of Gel-bananas!
I've got a lot to say on this episode...and that might be a trend for the future!

Maybe it's a product of its time unfortunately, though I believe the harem genre is still a thriving genre, but I'd hope it's more representative than just a bunch of girls fawning over the boy MC these days, but I wouldn't know, can't say I see many of them myself. That other show you mentioned sounds like a doozy haha! Really loved the reaction and discussion especially, your humor in it is so on point for me, and the prep work in to researching and explaining / breaking down string theory and some of the characters, so great! I hope you continue to enjoy the show and have a lot of fun with it like this episode, but that's the best thing about being spoiler free right? You actually get to experience it all for the first time for real, and we just get to experience it vicariously and comment! Which is exactly what I'm here to do! :)

This show is WILD and I honestly cannot wait to see what crazy shenanigans we are in for watching it! OH, I do not think I could be around Okarin in real life - at least not at this point in the series - I would have casually slipped away and past him, but I respect Daru being a true friend! I think the two of us would have treated it the same, but very different from Daru around Okarin! XD That is a great point, that Okarin has a friend network with his strong personality and it REALLY helps that Okarin is a young adult in college, free to make some of his own decisions; I love that point! I canβt wait to see what more we get with his character in the future!

2025-08-17 17:32:38 +0000 UTCSeeing that this discussion is over an hour long, and we're only on episode 2 made me grin a lot, I'll be honest. No, you're so right! Daru is a real one for sticking with Okarin because I remember having the hardest time getting into the series the first time I watched it because Okarin was a little too crazy for my taste *lol* If I had met him in real life, I would have totally have left him to his own personal brand of crazy and gone on my merry way. Which, you know, also makes it super sweet and great that he has so many friends. I feel like in other shows, a character like Okarin would have been ostracisized or marginalized because of his strong personality, but here we see that, sure, he is a Weirdo (tm) but he has found his niche group of friends were he thrives, more or less. I also think that might something to do with the fact that most of the shows that would not know how to deal with Okarin would be set in high school, and Okarin is a college student, which a much different time in life, so that might also influence the way he is regarded and how he has found his group, whether they believe or just let him be (we don't know), he still has them. That being said, I'm having the best time seeing all the weird shenanigans this show brings to the table, it's awesome. Your discussion was amazing! I loved all the physics, and all the explanations, it was fasinating and super helpful to hear.

2025-08-17 04:02:20 +0000 UTCThis is my second time watching the show but I'm getting so much out of it thanks to your analysis! @channel is a pun on Japanese message board 2channel (since 2 and @ are the same key). It directly inspired 4chan (hence the name), and it's safe to say that all the stereotypes about 4chan and its users hold for 2channel as well. Though Daru is lot less edgelord than your typical 2/4channer, IMO.
