Chihayafuru: Episode 20 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*REFRESHING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

I was thinking, "Oh, this is going to be a simple little episode" -- NEVER underestimate Chihayafuru! This episode was SO GOOD and had so much character work going on, especially for Chihaya and ESPECIALLY our lad, Taichi!

What a fantastic episode with callbacks galore and all the swoon-worthy moments -- I have so much to say about this one!

Chihayafuru: Episode 20 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

The mangaka is SO cruel to him! Because yes, Taichi can’t keep concentrating with Arata there. And that’s a good point about the parents not being…the best for these three, are they? *side eyes* ahaha! Arata was a force to be reckoned with just in his presence alone this episode! Taichi with a “knot of feelings” is so on point and yeah, Chihaya really is clueless about her own feelings, but might be realizing something by the end of this episode…we’ll see where that goes! I know you much you love Taichi, but man, that last moment where he tells Dr. Harada that he wants to make it on his own…ugh, that was an amazing moment! He’s such an amazing character! He’s definitely up there for me but so far, between him and Chihaya, we’ve had the most detailed character development with them. I just love this series and YES, no chill episodes here! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

If I already thought that Taichi was having a hard time, this episode made me want to shake the mangake for being this cruel to him. Gosh, the second Arata appears, you *know* that Taichi is going to lose. There's no way he can maintain his concentration after that, and it's oh so painful. You know - and this is a totally random comment xD - speaking about Taichi's privilege, him having time to practice Karuta because his parents are well-off; it made me think about how, even though his mom seems pretty strict and not supportive, she does seem to be around enough, while we haven't even seen his dad once, contrary to the short, but still there appearances of both of Arata's parents, the same goes for Chihaya's. This show really is good in creating not-so-great parents, isn't it? Lol. I was not expecting to see Arata so soon, but, my gosh, that whole appearance was crazy. While I was already on-board with them being a trouple, I am more than okay with it after this episode. Taichi has a knot of feelings where Arata is concerned, and Chihaya is too oblivious for her own good, but it just makes everything that much more interesting xD Taichi just stole the show for me in this episode. Dr. Harada offering to make him A rank already was a kind gesture but I immediately went "Taichi can't accept that, he'll feel he is doing it because he thinks Taichi can't make it on his own"; and it thankfully ended better than that, as Taichi didn't feel offended, but I was so proud that he rejected it because he wants to work for it honestly. And the fact that he says he isn't trying to become A rank for the sake fo being A rank, but he is working hard to prove to himself that he can achieve things while dedicating himself is so wonderful. I mean, Taichi has being the guy that has always had everything come naturally to him, who will win at his firs try, with little effort, and if that didn't work, if he started to fail and fall behind, then his mom would just move him to another thing he could excell at (as proven when he lost to Chihaya in that childhood, school Karuta tournament and his mom told him that if he was going to lose to a girl what was the point of doing Karuta); so for him to now want to excert himself, to know he is maybe not the best right now but work hard to get there, it's wonderful character development and I really love it. It does cement for me that Taichi is my favorite character so far. Truly, is there such a thing as a chill Chiahayafuru episode? So far, the answer has being no.
