YES - I honestly was floored by how realistically this entire story with Tanaka was portrayed - I've known people in my life who have or are experiencing parts of Tanaka's story and it's heartbreaking. And yeah, I definitely agree that there is a strong possibility that Tanaka had depression as a teenager and it just kept escalating alongside these other attributes that got added on over time. I'm pretty sure it was a result of how his parent treated him and it only worsened with a time and lead to gambling addiction and psychosis.
