A Place Further Than the Universe: Episode 12 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*FROZEN IN TIME HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

I had a feeling this episode would be Shirase-focused because it's the penultimate episode of the season...but wow, this episode left me speechless!

The journey has led Shirase here to come to terms with her mother's disappearance, and this series masters the use of "Understatement" to make a powerful, emotionally-charged episode that squeezed the tears out of me...no onion-peeling required!

This show is so good and this episode was indeed beautiful! The realizing that Shirase has with the laptop was so heartbreaking! And the girls outside hugging during it? No sad, but so good! Kimari really seems like Takako and I wonder when Gin said she was "suited for Antarctica" if she was seeing that connection to Kimari, so I'm glad you enjoyed that discussion! ^^ The seiyuu for Shirase was soooo good in this episode, I agree! Her emotion was palpable in this! I was so on board with this performance - I really look forward to hopefully seeing them in more anime in the future! Thank you for the comment! :D

I fully agree in quality over quantity - the story is so beautiful and i have a feeling that going back and re-watching will be such a treat! And ahhh, yes, I get you 100% on Magical Girl shows - Bloom Into You is a good Yuri and actually goes surprisingly hand in hand with this series to a great extent, so I'd recommend that! But I absolutely love the care and quality put into this show and I can't believe we only have one episode left! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

What an amazing show, what a beautiful episode, easily getting into my top tier anime episode list. The "realizing of the death" is so so tough for everyone, however, the storytelling, the expression of emotion there is just so perfect, it breaks me so hard every single time, but I love it so much. I could easily imagine the scene of Shirase exploding her emotion and her baby girls all hugging together with crying so hard, then I just start breakdown with them. I love that you shared about Shirase might think herself and Kimari as Gin and Takako, that is the amazing storytelling that I have never thought about that Kimari is really like Takako, reminding me that Gin might have already seen through that personality when they communicated to each other in the mountain training, thank you for pointing that out. Also shout out to Kana Hanazawa, the seiyuu of Shirase. What a phenomenal performance of the voice acting there, just the repeat of a simple word "Okaasan", but the full of emotions just completely brings me into the character, let me cry with breathing heavily just like her. This episode was actually my starting point being so obsessed with seiyuu, they give all these characters lives with their skills. Now, the more anime I watch, the more respect I feel for them.

i'll be brief since it's hard to discuss things in this episode without spoiling the next episode. i will say this: this episode is more proof that those in charge of the show really worked hard to offer quality over quantity. every moment tells a piece of the story. it's the kind of quality that a skilled chef can coax out of a meal with just basic ingredients. the show is so tight, you even started to correctly predict who the next focus would be. in response to your question regarding what i meant, yes I have seen madoka. it is amazing. I agree magical girl shows seem to be the focus of most girl friendship interaction, however, like you mentioned, it's also full of magic and over the top victories. I'll admit I don't read/watch much yuri, though I'm not opposed to it. I'll have to give them a try and see if that's what I've been missing.
