OH, I was fangirling throughout this entire episode! The reveals, the questions answered and new ones asked, and the confrontation of characters and the tearing down of "strongholds" surrounding their insecurities and identities? This episode was worth the long discussion! I hope you all enjoy as much as I did this week!

OH! REALLY?! I need to keep this in mind to see if I get a headache if I eat a green bell pepper in the future! That is wild! *takes notes* But I’m glad someone else agrees they taste different and there’s a reason for it! And yessss, SO glad that I wasn’t spoiled with Suirei’s upbringing - to see how she was in Season 1 and how she is in THIS episode is CRAZY! And yes, adds more to why Shenmei is to be feared! And yes, MaoMao’s willful ignorance - my girl - just….*gently shakes* Loulan’s voice overs are so effective as well, agreed! And KYOU-U - UGH - MaoMao is trying to be kind with him but acknowledging that he’s involved in not pleasant circumstances. I always feel proud for her when she talks so highly of her “dad” Luomen! :3 And yessssss, I am a full-fledged Lakan fangirl now! Once we had the episode of him crying over FengXian, my views of him changed COMPLETELY. I’m all here for him now but I love how he basically tells Jinshi to kick it in gear! But yeah, not only does Jinshi have to woo MAOMAO, but he has to win over Lakan as well! He should just use Luomen as leverage! ;) Ohhh, the theory of Loulan and Suirei as lovers hahaha…well…let’s not go full Game of Thrones, though this series gets close at times! 😛 And yessss, ahahahah wow, I remember reading LIVE when that chapter dropped with Komori and Sakusa and the way I clutched my pearls (though luckily I never shipped him with Komori) haha!! Maybe Lahan just got held up - thank you for the comment and kind words! I cannot WAIT to talk Episode 21 and to watch 22! :3

2025-06-13 21:25:48 +0000 UTCThe only thing I'd like to add in regards to the disliking green bell peppers but being fine with yellow, red and orange ones is that green bell peppers specifically are a food trigger for a lot of migraine sufferers, but they are fine with other bell peppers. I also say this on my own behalf as I used to love all colours of bell pepper but then around ten years ago I discovered green bell peppers were now causing me to have migraines. Also green bell peppers are technically the unripe form of the red varieties and so do have a different taste to them. I'm so glad no-one spoiled the Suirei as an abused child storyline for you. So shocking to see this woman who has always seemed so strong and confident around Maomao be a shell of herself and hunch over so as she's not as tall (and therefore as visible). It's also a very clever way to make the audience so much more on edge about Lady Shenmei's character. That "Dammit Maomao!" was very visceral 🤣 I just knew you'd want to shake her with, once again, considering possibilities in regards to Jinshi's identity and then just stopping. They have to give you some frustration when they're giving Maomao so many other answers 😆 I just adore that we switch perspectives to get inside Loulan's head as we get flashes of her past. Her almost emotionless voice over of thoughts as she grows up makes her childhood all the more heart-breaking to me. My heart hurts for Kyou-u wondering about his mother but I love the response Maomao gives him. It shows that she can be surreptitious if it calls for it, or that she's learned more about how other people view such kinds of intimacy (something growing up in a brothel Maomao did not learn the same opinion). Also her answer follows her father's (Luomen) teaching about not acting on conjecture. Can I say how much I adore the character development you've gone through? 😂 To see you now fangirl over Lakan's presence makes me so happy. But this story is definitely good at making you change your feelings about Lakan in a relatively short period of time. At times though I do feel for Jinshi that Lakan is the father-in-law to impress in order for him to get his blessing with Maomao 😆 Your grin was just as big as mine when I was watching Lakan vent out his frustrations at Jinshi. But then for this strong Papa Bear to turn around and become so meek around his uncle just made me love Lakan so much more. And seeing how Luomen acts and talks to Lakan shows Lakan gets his cunning nature from his uncle. The anime did not disappoint with the scene of Lakan showing such respect to the Moon Prince and requesting him to strike down Shishou 😍 Now that we've got confirmation of Suirei and Loulan being sisters I can admit to grinning behind my laptop screen at one of your theories that Suirei and Loulan were lovers 😁 They certainly have a relationship, just it's a familial one rather than romantic. Honestly it did make me think of Haikyuu!! and people shipping Sakusa with Komori until they learned they were cousins and then did an about-turn 😆 I believe Lahan ended up behind Luomen because Luomen got carried off in the carriage/palanquin. His carriage probably arrived quicker than Lahan, and Luomen didn't wait for his great-nephew because the situation was somewhat urgent.

2025-06-12 22:33:52 +0000 UTCI also like that when Lakan stormed Jinshis room and told Lahan to not visit him too much it's also a suggestion about "what if people start talking about you and Jinshi, Lahan :/" like thats so funny, Lakan does not want none of his children associate with Jinshi and here we are If I remember correctly, Shenmei two long claws are reference to empress Cixi, I do not remember if you mentioned it in your reaction.
