I really am glad this series is breaking expectations and subverting tropes like it is - it does calm my nerves a little bit when crazy shenanigans like this happen! But yes, so happy for the confession in this episode! And hahaha, I can see the SVSSS comparison - I think it’s more the physical appearances of the characters and their dynamics that make me think of AOT - it’s eerily spot on! I think I like Kurosawa much better than LBH personally - I can see the comparisons but man do I approve way more of Kurosawa - LBH could learn a thing or two about BOUNDARIES AND RESPECT from Kurosawa in my opinion. Sorry, that got me on a tangent! XD I just don’t like LBH as a character, personally. Kurosawa is more smooth and socially successful than LBH and his possessiveness is actually from a real and human perspective, which I appreciate! I can see Adachi relating to SQQ with his sexuality, though! But I’m glad that unlike SQQ, he actually confronts his feelings and does something about it! Honestly, your comment is making me realize I like Cherry Magic way more than SVSSS already because it actually turns toxic tropes into ones that work – I would only accept - for me personally - a crossover if SVSSS “fixed” itself by being more like Cherry Magic! 😀 Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! That’s fairly rare in shows like this unless, like you said, angst is quick to follow. Hopefully the show continues to break the mold and it will all work out okay. You’ve compared the characters here to Attack on Titan characters a couple times now, but I actually find myself thinking of Scum Villain while watching them. Especially during an episode like this one. Kurosawa is like LBH in how he can appear to be the perfectly composed, cool, handsome guy who attracts all the ladies, but on the inside is after a guy and can be surprisingly possessive or jealous about it. And he uses cooking as a way to impress and get closer to the object of his affection. Adachi goes through some of the same denial that SQQ does about his sexuality, though he doesn’t keep his head in the sand nearly as long, lol. Adachi also reminds me on SQQ when he insists he isn’t kind but we keep seeing him do kind things. Similar to how SQQ insists that all his actions are based in selfish motives and dismisses kind things he does for other characters. Adachi also has a writer for one of his best friends, like SQQ has SQH. Said writer friend is even involved in the secondary romance. I guess what I’m saying is that i could see a cherry magic au of SVSSS working out surprisingly well. Like, I could see the main characters of SV turning out similar to Kurosawa and Adachi if they had less trauma and/or healthier coping mechanisms, and communication. Also imagine all the angst that could have been avoided if SQQ gained magical mind reading powers at the age of 30! XD Thanks much for the video!

2025-06-11 10:00:07 +0000 UTCThere are definitely a few BL I've read and watched that some of the characters could do with having an inner reasonable person fight their inner desire person. And not just in moments like Kurosawa and Adachi's moment on the bed in the beginning. I can think of a few times in Twittering Birds when both Doumeki and Yashiro could have definitely benefited better if reason had won over desire 😅 Throwing in that realism to our BL with Fujisaki's issue of getting technology to work 🤣 The way the show immediately gives us confirmation that Adachi's belief Kurosawa is over his jealousy against Rokkaku is an incorrect belief never fails to make me laugh 🤣 But just like Adachi internally praised him on the train, Kurosawa is definitely good at having a poker face to hide what his thoughts actually are. The term Adachi uses with Rokkaku (that I had to look up as it's slang I'd never come across before) is "riajuu". It does mean 'normie' as Crunchyroll have translated but can also be translated to 'a person who is satisfied with their real (offline) life'. Considering it's about him dancing in high school, the Western equivalent could be Adachi considering Rokkaku to be a "jock". I was giggling away when you suggested us getting a Ghost moment with them washing dishes together 🥰 Back with the Takoyaki of Death Adachi thought Kurosawa did it to himself. Well in this situation, with Adachi already fully aware of Kurosawa's jealousy, Adachi pretty much got himself into that situation at the sink by going on about Rokkaku 😂 Was so excited for you to get to this episode after your comments about Magenta Glasses shipping Kurosawa and Adachi. In a lot of BL female characters are few and far between, and in some they are definitely an obstacle for a ship to get together. Cherry Magic deciding to make the potential female love interest of Adachi not be romantically interested in him, and instead be a complete fujoshi, immediately made me love her (as well as breathe a sigh of relief that we weren't going the route of Fujisaki being interested in Adachi). A (vocalised) confession in Episode 5 was definitely unexpected when I was watching this. And while I was wishing Adachi would just respond to Kurosawa, I do also like him taking the time to be absolutely sure about his feelings. Telling Kurosawa he feels the same only to realise later that he only felt like that because Kurosawa was the first person Adachi knew to like him romantically, that would definitely hurt Kurosawa more than no response or Adachi telling him that he doesn't feel the same way. The takoyaki from Jujutsu Kaisen getting the Psycho-Pass madeleine treatment made me laugh so hard...before imagining BeHappy's reaction to you calling her fictional husband "sleazy" 🤣 But yes takoyaki is a street food kind of dish; what we'd consider "cheap and cheerful fare" here in Northern Ireland 😁 Great reaction as always! Also little update on the translation of the shorts they posted on YT: I just have to add subtitles to the last part of it and then it will be done 🥳 So fingers crossed that I get some time to do that this week.
