Okay, I have given Taichi a hard time, but acknowledged he has potential and TODAY, we show that potential! I am in love with his growing relationship reunited with Chihaya, who just makes my heart soar as well!
You know what doesn't make my heart soar, though? Well...we find out this week...and I have a LOT of things to say about it!

WHAT a Taichi-focused episode! Haha!! I definitely think that her being a woman does get her some undeserved flack, but her age definitely could attribute to that as well. Though, these guys did seem about the same age as her, so….anyway, I appreciate Chihaya’s focus and how she takes it all in stride! I also feel Taichi might underestimate himself, since he’s grown up with that “if you’re not first you’re last” Talladega Nights mentality. -_- I appreciate that this show gets into classism and social structures and I’m excited to see what it might do with that, too! I love Chihaya, though; she’s such a force of positivity and inspiring! I agree; the more she’s on screen, the more I love her! And yes, Taichi was a sweetheart; he officially won me over with the little coat trick! <3 And yeah, I think that she might not realize she likes him either, but I don’t know - my shipping bias is on a level right now hahaha! I’ll have more to say about her and her “feelings” with these two men this coming episode! I agree, I hate the darkness around him and how SAD he just seems in general. 🙁 I haven’t fully looked at Taichi’s VA yet or if I have, I’ve forgotten – I may need to check that out before Episode 6! ^^ Thank you for the comment and kind words! 2025-04-22 22:42:09 +0000 UTCOh, this episode is the perfect Taichi episode, and I'm really appreciative of it for that XD Look, to be fair, I don't think that all those people being doubtful that Chihaya could win was *only* because she was a girl, they mentioned her age quite a bit, so I think that had to do with it is; sort of like, well, she is young and probably new to playing, so of course the more seasoned, experienced player is going to be the one winning. Of course, Chihaya has put so much effort into training and getting better that the time she has spent playing is irrelevant, and she proves it, and I love that. It defies what Taichi said, that he had only gotten a little better after playing Karuta through middle school, but not too much. I can 100% see this show dealing with a minor classism issue with Arata's situation compared to Chihaya and Taichi. I think that would be fun. Gosh, Chihaya was so inspiring. And so nice about it all, it made me really happy. I love that she apologizes to Taichi for basically forcing him to make the Karuta club with her, before she wins, because she is so confident that she WILL win; and then she does win but doesn't apologize again. The more I see of her the more I like her. Taichi was a complete sweetheart this episode! I love him more and more with each episode. I swear, he just reminds me of Jean from AoT so much, and that makes me like him more and more. I'm rooting for him so hard XD That being said, I do not think that Chihaya is aware that she has a small crush on Arata, which I do think she does. I think Chihaya is very impulsive, in the sense that she says everything that's on her mind and often acts the same way, but I don't think she is deeply introespective, and thus, I think she'd only realize her feelings if they smacked her in the face, which has not yet happened. Arata's little appearance in the end was heartbreaking. He is there for such a short time, but he *exudes* sadness, I think. And, I mean, him disappearing into the darkness of his home did not help that feeling. Last but not least, have you looked at Taichi's VA? Because I spent the whole episode thinking that he was reminding me of someone, and then I went and looked at the VA and it made perfect sense (I'm being vague because I don't want to give spoilers or influence anything as I know you have specific times when you liked to find out about these sort of things, so I'm just gonna ask XD).
