Thumbnails for FLIP. Thumbnailing is the most cognitively taxing step in the process of creating a graphic novel. You're thinking about panel composition and anatomy and page layouts and environments at the same time, all while trying to make sure the story makes sense and flows. I recently invested in Chris Samnee's Artist Edition collection of his run on Daredevil where he not only shares his inked pages but his thumbnails (!!!)βsome of which he worked out right on a printed script!
Chris Samnee's thumbnails fill me with SO many questions as I scratch out my own pages. How can I guarantee that Flip's and Chi-Chi's acting is legible? What are new ways to move around the camera for establishing shots? How in the world do you storyboard a concert??

Ah, these thumbnails might be impossible to decipher, but it's another one of my protagonists procrastinating and pulling an all-nighter to finish a senior project. Why do I keep writing this...π€
New Yorker. Trying to get another cartoon in the New Yorker this week. Lawd, pray for me!

"To be honest, steps 8 through 14 don't do anything, but my skincare routine is more about feeling like I have control in an increasingly chaotic world."
It'll be another week of work for me! Thanks and see you around!
