About 60% Done With Writing My Next GN / Gag Comics

Hi! Happy Friday! I thought I'd leave you all with an update on my progress for Project Yesenia (the work-in-progress, placeholder name for my next graphic novel.)
- About 60% done with writing. I just finished outlining Act II and turned the majority of that into a script. The thumbnails that you see above are actually, mostly, revisions for Act I.
- The main characters of this story are Chi-Chi (the protagonist), Flip (her crush and deuteragonist), and Yesenia and Esther (Chi-Chi's best friends). While Chi-Chi has proven to be such a fun engine for this story, Flip has been such a challenge to write. Straight, cis, rich, good-looking white boy from Houston??? Don't worry, I've given him fault, but sussing out a voice for him has been excruciating.
- Esther! One of the easiest characters to write has been Esther. She's debate team president and got into Yale early-action. She's like, 5'10", wears a high ponytail, and is probably going to be a corporate lawyer one day. SHE'S SO CONFRONTATIONAL and self-assured and I love her. Spin-off story for Esther!!
- August = Thumbnails. Now that I've got about 40-50 more pages of script, I'm going to return to thumbnailing. No, my brain can't focus on anything for too long. Which is why I'm thumbnailing and scripting as I go—I definitely can't sit down and write an entire script!

Chi-Chi, Yesenia, and Esther's friendship revolves around fandom. Their favorite kpop group is called BGBB!
NEW YORKER CARTOONS

"Hey, these look like New Yorker cartoons!" Well, they are--or will be, hopefully. Let's see if any of these single-panel gags gets in!
That's it for me this week. Remember there's a stream tomorrow! I'm still chipping away at Madison.
