Pay attention to the shinobi attire the characters are wearing. From the segmented body armor from the era of the warring states to the flak jackets with multiple pockets, the attire sure has changed quite a bit. A sign of the times. The new shinobi jackets look simplistic, almost casual. This indicates the world is transitioning to an era of peace. Hashiramas era could be akin to feudal era Japan. Naruto era could be considered world War 2 japan. Borutos era is akin to modern-day japan.

Without asuma or his dad , he must also play the roles they once held in a post-war world. Shikamaru has also taken his duties more seriously now, to the point where he stopped saying what a drag.
