2025-07-05 07:32:56 +0000 UTCInstead of giving us lore on the Sage and his brother, characters who were not revealed till near the end of the series, the anime should have delved deeper into the Senju brothers. Hashirama and Tobirama. Kishimoto revealed very little to nothing about their reign as Hokage, particularly after Madara's first death at Final Valley. How did Hashriama meet Mito Uzumaki? How did she become Kurama's first jinchuriki? How many children did they have? Which one was Tsuande's parent? To address the tailed beast in the room. How exactly did Hashirama die? It is preposterous that the God of Shinobi who is as reputable as the Sage of Six Paths would fall to some generic lower shinobi. One theory is this. Hashirama was stricken by a disease. The same affliction that claimed Itachi. Kakuzu, the only one besides Tobirama who could have tangled with Hashirama at the time, was sent to assassinate him. Kakuzu was only able to take down Hashriama because the latter was already afflicted. With Hashirama out of the picture, Tobirama ascended to the position of second Hokage. He organized the village into what it is through institions like the ninja academy, ANBU, and the police force, the latter of which was assigned to the Uchiha, who Tobirama had prior misgivings with. Madara might have contributed to the Uchiha's downfall by manipulating Obito, who had helped Itachi slaughter their clan, but was Tobirama who had planted the seeds by making the Uchiha mere enforcers and keeping them out of the leaf's upper echelons. Tobirama would then meet his end, presumably at the hands of the Stinkapu brothers, but not before passing the role of Hokage to a young Hiruzen. Hiruzen's early years as Hokage were never explored upon nor were the first and second ninja wars, which gave rise to Pain and the Sannin. Perhaps someday Kishimoto will give out more lore on the first and second Hokages.

Rewritten lore without the need to force kaguya into the story would have been like this. After madara summoned the gedo statue from the moon, he heard ten tails voice. The beast thanked him for freeing and declared him the savior of the world. Madara would then agree to its plan to place all humanity into eternal slumber through the eye of the moon plan. Black zetsu would be the ten tails will designed to assist Madara. Madara would no longer seem like just a pawn. There was no need to give a backstory about hagoromo. There could have been a few more brief flashbacks about him and ten tails instead. Revealing too much about them takes away their status as mysterious gods who shaped the shinobi world into what it is.
