Looking at it from a selfish lense I don't think is the correct way to look at it. You yourself may have a good and satisfying life, but what about the person next to you who may be suicidal? What about the people halfway across the globe experiencing famine or war, disease, dictatorships. The reality of humanity is that most people in the world are either unhappy, or are in very unfavorable living situations and circumstances. When you take the spotlight away from just yourself and those living it up good in 1st world countries, you can start to actually empathize with everyone else who doesn't have it as good as you. Most of us watching this are lucky to have all 5 of our senses, and all our limbs fully functioning. Living in a stable environment with electricity, clean water, internet, doesn't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from etc. Even if youre not financially well off, if youre living under these conditions then congrats you got it made. But that's not the reality of most people. The infinite tsukuyomi project is about saving the world on a macro scale. If people would just think outside of their own bubble and realize that halfway across the world, things aren't so good. Maybe the perspective would change a bit

This is why the law exists and why these people are incarcerated for our safety. The law may not be perfect but I still don't think that's a good enough reason to give up entirely and surrender our free will and memories. The great thing about Naruto as a series is how it makes believable villains that prompt us to rethink our morals and values because you can actually empathize with their positions. Agreeing with those positions is maybe a bridge too far for me as an optimist but I do get it. I can't remember much of the Tobi Naruto dialogue so it'll be great to see them clash on these philisophies in the coming episodes

So despite the world being fake, everyone in it is real, at least. So the interactions and relationships you have with people are genuine. Whereas in the infinite tsukuyomi, everyone's trapped in their individual dream world. So both the reality and the people within it are complete bs. And the idea of not having genuine relationships with real people is so vile.

For example, in the movie, The Matrix, people wakeup confused because they REALLY thought that they were living life!! With Naruto's ideology, humanity continues to commit atrocious, inhumane crimes upon one another. Do we allow the senselessness continue and hope that people change? How many murders, r*pes, etc. more will it take for humans to draw the line? These are the great philosophical questions that Sensei Kishimoto forces upon us and nobody the craziest part is that NOBODY has the answers to them!!

However, I knew major points going into the reactions like the TRUTH about Itachi (impossible to forget), Jiraya's death, and who "Tobi" is!! I also had a general idea of how the story played out beginning to end. This is my second time watching Naruto and my first time watching it without COVID LOL!!

Only when you begin to ponder in this abstraction is when you'll begin to question EVERYTHING. NOTHING will make sense. HOWEVER, you may realize that the universe simply seeks balance. And if you come to this conclusion, you may realize that Determinism and Free Will BOTH EXIST TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME!! Taking all this back to Naruto, Tobi's decision is based on what humans have chosen to do since their inception. They've senselessly killed one another and continued pushing this cycle of suffering and hatred. His mission lies on the premise that humans CANNOT be trusted (True) Instead he forces the genjutsu plan upon humanity. This plan keeps all humans alive while giving them all of their greatest needs / desires in a "dream world" Come to think of it, what makes you so sure that we're NOT in a genjutsu right now? How can you tell that THIS is reality?

Naruto and by extension the entire theme of the show is about never giving up, which is why Tobi works so well as a foil for Naruto here. As Konan said, Tobi is the darkness and Naruto is the light and now finally they clash. But Tobis ideology is wrong and Naruto is 100% right. Despite the conflict and pains we may experience you have to accept it, grow from it and move forward even if it takes you a literal life time to do so, not cast yourself into oblivion. Never give up and surrender to despair. Last chance for Madison to guess who Tobi is. When Tobi mentions the battle where he first unlocked his Sharingan you can put the pieces together right there on who he truly is

That is the weakness of the jutsu. Anyone who knows the signs can release the current instance of it.
