Agreed. If you constantly see the good side of a person, and lets say their mom gets killed and the killer comes back randomly to haunt you and put you in a coma, which drives them to lose their way because they will do anything to get back at that killer. Are you just going to outright abandon your friend that steered on the wrong path, or are you going to help them in anyway you can?

I have one, and ONLY one question for this episode. That question is this...what was being fed to that gigantic bear living in the forest for the chunin exams? As big as it was, how did it never escape? Lol. Wtf is the hidden leaf doing with that bear.

I never disliked Sakura as a character. I think some folks get caught up in first impressions but that's what makes character development so meaningful. Its just like our world, people will shame others far after they've proven themselves. It was actually Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori that boosted me into Shippuden and Hidan & Kakuzu that solidified me. Sakura is worth it.

It's like they completely ignore Sakura almost saw Sasuke die both in Land of Waves and in the Forest of Death. Team 7 had plenty of other missions before they had their first C-rank one so they were already bonded by that point. Sakura may not have had ample opportunities to actually fight during those missions but she was still there nonetheless and no matter how scared or outmatched she was she never once tried to run away to save herself like a coward. She took care of Naruto and Sasuke when they were sick and injured in the forest and never once left their side or abandoned them even when she got beat up by the sound ninja. She stayed to defend her team the same way Naruto or Sasuke would have done it. Sure Baris; forget how integral Sakura was to Shippuden's first arc in which she put more work in than Naruto did and somehow he still gets the credit. Saving Kankuro's life and taking a sword to the gut to protect Chiyo; if Chiyo would have died right there then guess what Gaara never gets revived and she selflessly did that to protect a woman she barely knew who hated her mentor because she knows how important this mission was. Sakura is a very flawed character but that's what makes people like me appreciate her because it makes her human and relatable which is something people choose to overlook because she's not a flashy or charismatic type character. As I've said many times Sakura makes many mistakes but so do a lot of the other characters and they don't get the same type of vitriol thrown their way; I genuinely don't understand why only Sakura has to strive to be the only perfect individual and everyone else can be as weird and reckless as they want. It's also ridiculous expecting these characters to act like and make decisions like a mature adult when they're all still teenagers, Naruto and Sasuke included.

Sakura isnt that bad. Really guys you dont appreaciate Sakura. Maybe she is useless at the moment. But later you will see she is not at same level as Sasuke or Naruto but you will know what really she capable off. Sakura haters same haters who didnt like Naruto without no reason. Same haters bullies who live in our world aswell. So our society make some people suffer. And later you saying you understand what Nagato(Pain) philosophy is. When you bullying or hate somebody you make other people sad or angry and then Hate is born. Its different when you watching Anime is not real person but its make no difference from real person. He she have feelings so are these characters of our beloved Anime Naruto. So guys before make any action I mean in verbal words or any other way make sure you think about consequences. Listen, everywhere you look in this world, wherever there is light, there will always be shadows to be found as well.

So it wasn't just Sakura falling for Sasuke's charming looks. Maybe it started off that way, but it clearly explains that they bonded while going on life or death missions together as Team 7.

Very good point, Naruto is just as fucking reckless when it comes to Sasuke—he lets himself get beat up over their relationship and is praised for being a great friend, but Sakura is only seen as an idiot that is shallow. Hypocrisy at its finest. What makes Sakura's love for Sasuke less valid than Naruto's friendship with him that he gets praised but she is ridiculed? SMH

Like I said, it's tricky to say because if Sasuke uses any of his jutsu it's over; if they went fisticuffs I think Sakura could have wore him down. Sakura wouldn't awaken her byakuyo seal until the latter part of the war so that version of Sakura who would then have regenerative abilities definitely could have washed this weakened Sasuke effortlessly.

That's a fair criticism but that was his choice to put the men at the forefront and sideline the women because even with those fights Tsunade and Mei had their efforts didn't exactly amount to much in the long run; because they were never going to defeat Madara same with Konan not beating Obito. We know they're all skilled and powerful in their own regard but you never would have seen a female in this universe defeat one of the males in a 1v1. I do find it a little hypocritical when people want to use Sakura loving Sasuke as a reason to say she's a bad character when Naruto's doing the exact same thing and arguably to a more unhealthy degree. If Naruto won't give up on his friendship then Sakura shouldn't have to give up on her love.

Seeing what goes on later on with Sakura proclaiming to have surpassed Tsunade then logically she could have dealt with everything Sasuke gave her here besides amaterasu and susano'o.

The actual problem Kishimoto has is in writing male-female relationships. Because Tsunade, Temari and Mizukage are quite good and strong characters. Yet he gave both the female Kage the opportunity to fight against Madara for multiple episodes. Yet when Sasuke(a newer version of Madara), went to fight Naruto again, Sakura was out of the fight in one second, unlike Tsunade vs Madara. I think one of the main reasons that Sakura is a "bad character" is Sasuke. Kishimoto made Sasuke psychotic for this current arc... Meaning that a redemption by blood(like Darth Vader) would be the most logical/likely ending for Sasuke. But in the end he changed it up again and made it so that Sasuke became a caring and good person once again... Actually a much better person than he was before he joined Orochimaru. That is where the problems lie for me.

Sakura's going with the intention of still trying to reach Sasuke peacefully without having to take things as far as killing. She believes if it comes down to it she'll be able to follow through, but of course deep in her heart she hopes it won't have to go that far. The video game Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 handled their interaction so much better than the anime. In the game Sasuke rambles on about how the villagers are all scum laughing at the peace his brother provided with his death all while laughing maniacally while Sakura sees with her own eyes how deranged Sasuke's become; then when he got behind and tried to chidori her she dodged the attack by herself instead of being saved by Kakashi then proceeds to fight Sasuke to a stalemate. I know people will say there's no way Sakura would win and like I said the game had her tie, but if we take into account Sakura's got monstrous strength and she's at her full power while Sasuke's fatigued from his fight with Danzo while just coming off fighting the kage he'd be extremely drained and I can imagine Sasuke being cocky enough to think he can defeat her without using ninjutsu so if the two of them sparred only using Taijutsu I think it could have been a feasible way to write it within the confines of the series without seeming to unbelievable.

Yeah, it was I think like half a year ago when I read the article where it came as a shock to many that he never wanted to do a tournament arc but I think the popularity of manga that had them such as Hunter x Hunter, Dragonball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho persuaded him that was probably the safe way to go.

You might need to double drop on the next 2 episodes because they're mostly filler flashback episodes just like this one

I think his regret is more how the reception for her became over time which in my opinion is completely overblown. Kishimoto knows how to write characters so it shouldn't matter whether they're male or female. Kishimoto has said in other past interviews he had planned to give Sakura an arc but his editors were the ones who would discourage it most of the time; similar toward the beginning he was never going to make a tournament arc (chunin exams) he instead wanted to focus on all the teams and their relationships with their sensei. Ironically the chunin exams became one of the most popular arcs to the series yet people still complain Team 7 didn't get enough development which is what Kishi wanted the crux of his series to be about in the first place but he caved to his editor's wishes. I feel like Kishimoto gets grilled about this topic on the daily so he just spouts the party line of "I have regrets" because it's easier to avoid more backlash. For whatever reason Sakura's held to a higher standard than the rest of the characters by the fandom when other characters have made the same kind of mistakes she has or had similar feelings of weakness when it comes to someone they knew or loved in the past. It's amazing how some people want to equate her to some of the villains who have done the most heinous and horrific things yet lambast her just because she's more emotional and can't just cast her feelings aside which let's not forget is always a consistent theme in this series where Shinobi prove time and time again they can't just be blunt instruments and completely eradicate their humanity.

Kishimoto has long since admitted that he doesn't know how to write female characters well and more recently admitted that his biggest regret regarding Naruto is the way he handled Sakura's character. I definitely appreciate his honesty
