2024-09-15 19:16:42 +0000 UTCYes it is an emotional attack as well as an opportunistic one. Don't even try to compare everyone else's feelings about Tsunade to Naruto and Sakura because they're the ones closest to her with the exception of Shizune. Sai's the one who misread the whole situation and came to the conclusion Naruto's in love with Sakura which Naruto's reckless behavior is not her fault; then he's the one who gaslit her into believing Naruto's doing this out of love for her more than anything. So realistically how else was she going to approach this situation? She's not onboard with taking Sasuke out despite what she told them; she told them what they wanted to hear. Her lie was to protect Naruto from himself not manipulate. She knew that by saying something so outlandish that Naruto would immediately see through it and start trying to find out the truth of what's going on. Sakura has been taking care of and looking after Tsunade too and she's clearly upset seeing her like that and you even said it yourself Sasuke's been left to his own devices because of the consideration she has for both Naruto and Sakura not just Naruto alone. Shikamaru's not stupid so once he saw Sakura crying and holding her shoulders after what Sai was saying to her he knew it's now or never and since Tsunade can't do anything to prevent it, it was the perfect opportunity. Whether it was planned how things would turn out is irrelevant because they saw a chance and they took it regardless if it meant attacking somebody innocent.

2024-09-15 10:04:35 +0000 UTCOmg a whole debate šš chiming in to my comment *ahem* I can see your point, but I disagree and raise you another. In my opinion, this whole argument revolving around Tsunade is mute. Reason being because she is the HOKAGE! True she is Sakuraās Mistress right now, but she is the leader of the ENTIRE leaf village. To go off on your point, is to say that the entire village is as Sakura is - which in fact it is. Because they donāt have their LEADER after being leveled. So EVERYONE is feeling distraught. Also, thatās why Tsunade has her aid, Shizune, whoās actually been the one there taking care of her - from what we see in the anime. So itās not like Sakura is doing anything. Going back to Shikamaru and Sai, one canāt say it was timed intentionally. From what I remember itās not like āokay we know sheās in Tsunadeās tent letās go thereā they were looking for her and found her there. I agree with the when it rains it pours. Because YES Tsunade is the only reason Sasuke has been allowed to live this long but she as the hokage has done it more for Naruto than anyone else. And to be fair also, this wasnāt the ONLY interaction sai has seen in regard to him and Naruto. Naruto explained how he felt when they went into orochimaruās lair in the earlier episodes with Yamato. So Sai has started to understand Narutoās feelings. So everyone is seeing how self destructive Naruto is. In the earlier episodes it was addressed I THINK to no avail. And Sai also saw Narutoās feelings to being unable to keep āa promise (of a lifetime)ā especially for being someone who never goes back on his word. Is Naruto doing this for himself yes, is he doing it for Sakura ALSO YES. Sai and Shikamaru all they did was slap Sakura with the reality that she has acknowledged herself that she has put it all on Naruto too. So she knows. Shikamaru specifically didnāt single it out against her - he conveyed the message that THE GROUP came to. Soooo thereās only so much you can do. Was it expected that things would turn out this way while the leaf was being blown to hell, no. But were they maliciousā¦negative. Itās not an emotional attack or opportunistic

2024-09-15 06:55:12 +0000 UTCI understand the practical and logical reasons why Sai did what he did but it doesn't change the fact that he targeted the wrong person during his own emotional turmoil. Sai's scared for Naruto because of how reckless he's being so he should have tried to be as harsh and blunt about it with him as he was with Sakura. Sakura's not in the best headspace right now because her master's in a coma; Sai wasn't coming from a logical place when he was having this conversation with her he was coming from an emotional one. Sai focused on one past interaction he had with both of them and concluded Naruto's sole motivation at that point in time was Naruto's deeply in love with Sakura thus through his own inability to read the room made her the target of his anger and frustration because now it's no longer about Naruto doing this for Sasuke it's about him trying to honor the promise to Sakura in Sai's mind. Sai laid every single thing about this whole situation at Sakura's feet basically blaming her for all of it and that's unjust and unfair. How would you feel if during when someone who's like a mother to you is unwell then a close friend of yours starts tearing you down emotionally? Both Sai and Shikamaru calculated their timing perfectly because they know Sakura has no means of support because Tsunade's out of it and they know if they don't bounce on this opportunity while Sakura's vulnerable they'd never get her on their side thus making it easier to go after Sasuke. Nothing you say is going to convince me that Sai and Shikamaru wouldn't have been able to bully her if she wasn't worried about Tsunade's well-being.
Brianda Sandoval
2024-09-14 20:06:19 +0000 UTCI completely disagree with this assessment of Sai's intent. He's not a malicious being and his timing in confronting Sakura was not planned or intended to be at her weak point. This is just an example of "when it rains it pours". Was the timing super shitty? Absolutely, but that's life. Sai is still growing and developing as a character and discovering the impact of emotional reprocussions but in this time of crisis, action is far more important. Honestly in these cases with Sakura, it would be disrespectful to coddle her and placate her feelings. She is a strong Kunoichi and a leader in many ways. You also have to remember that this is a state of emergency after a massive terrorist attack. The time for crying about her lost love is not now. Now its time to act and be a leader. Though her way of trying to free Naruto of his burden was narrow minded and ill-prepared, massively underestimating Naruto's emotional intelligence, she was quick to bury her feelings and become a leader. And now as we know, she's planning to take on Sasuke herself. Sai spurred her into action and was a real friend and comrade by being straight up with her as he is with everyone he talks too. What do you think of this?

2024-09-14 03:49:26 +0000 UTCSakura lied to Naruto throughout the entire episode. She is still hopelessly in love with Sasuke. Her love for him is so deep that she is willing to kill him in order to save him from falling even deeper into the darkness. She also wants to relieve Naruto of his promise he made to her back in OG. She feels that his promise to her is like a poison destroying him from within. Besides, it's too late for Sasuke now. All of his actions thus far have branded him an international criminal to be sentenced to death.

2024-09-13 20:54:26 +0000 UTCYes they were wrong and I don't care how much I have to say it. Sai deciding to approach Sakura when she's in a vulnerable position when she's been taking care of her master who's in a precarious state to then proceed to blame her for the lengths Naruto's willing to go for Sasuke is just plain awful and terrible because Naruto's doing this all of his own free will without Sakura poking or prodding him. Sai's the idiot for making a mountain out of one interaction he observed and remembered thinking Naruto's in love with her and is the sole reason he's hurting himself. Putting aside what you and the rest of the fandom think of Sasuke or what should happen to him what Sai did was a personal attack against Sakura to vent his own frustration which really should have been directed at Naruto and blamed her for Naruto's self destructing obsession.

2024-09-13 15:09:04 +0000 UTCMAAAAANNN thereās a lot to uncover and discuss here! Lmao first, I love your guysā reactions to Sakuraās big revealā¦especially Madison. Second, that first scene with Gaara gliding or whatever across the snowā¦awesome! Baris reaction to Sakura and Yamatoāsā¦priceless. Fight sceneā¦awesome! Now for the fun stuff going along with the debates!! š š To the point at hand, I do believe Sakura is a crappy person for what she did for SOMEWHAT VALID reasons. Sheās got a major point which we (and I) have said before Naruto doesnāt care much about anything else except for Sasuke, and is willing to risk it all - life and body! At some point the obsession becomes nauseating. Like my guy eats and dreams about Sasuke. Now I get it, his character is that he will never kill a person and tries to save them. So we also know he wouldnāt have gone for them killing Sasuke, although it would fall under an internal decision - not another village which was the debate before with an eye for eye argument. I DONT think Sai or Shikamaru were in the wrong for what they did or said. They were looking at things objectively imo. Sakura after some time was just blissfully going along with seeing and having Naruto chase after Sasuke, albeit she joined in episode 1, and I think thatās it? GRANTED, Sakura never knew of the conversation Naruto had with Pain/Nagato, his dad, or the truth about Itachi. All sheās seen and known is that Naruto went from fighting Sasuke, to chasing after him b/c he was heading to Orochimaruā¦and SHE added on to it. So rightfully so, all she sees is her promise. Like Sakura is grown and she has to have some idea of Narutoās feelings but also put her feelings over everything. So was she weak in the moment confronted by Sai and company, ehh I donāt think so.

2024-09-13 12:23:06 +0000 UTCWell you're free to have that opinion. I don't consider someone being in a vulnerable state of mind to be weak. I will always think that what Sai did was really scummy by taking out his frustrations on her, completely unwarranted and uncalled for. Shikamaru only barely gets off just because he's a more neutral party and bases his decisions more on logic than anything but his timing sucks in this case because he masterfully decided to put his two cents in after Sai psychologically tore her apart. I'm not trying to change your mind, I just wanted to give my input on the last sentence of your original post of Sakura making it about her. I already at length explained how that's not the case, Sai's the one who made it all about her by placing all the blame on her making everything her fault. He brought her into this whole mess, she didn't willingly insert herself.
Brianda Sandoval
2024-09-13 11:27:36 +0000 UTCIt is cruel but the situation is way bigger than a little love triangle right now. All of the Konoha 11 except Naruto have commited to taking down Sasuke themselves rather than letting him remain at large as an internationally wanted criminal causing trouble. Remember also that Sakura and Naruto are on completely different wavelengths regarding Sasuke right now. Naruto actually knows the truth about Itachi and the current source of Sasuke's pain whereas Sakura does not because they agreed to keep the intel classified. Naruto however doesn't know that the Leaf are currently in pursuit of Sasuke to eliminate him and she is trying to shield him from getting involved via any means necessary even if it means he will hate her. It's an ugly deception but shes trying to take all the pain and hate on herself because Naruto has already done so much for them already. Its pretty tragic. But Sakura can't handle it alone and doesn't realize that its a problem for all of Team 7 to handle

2024-09-13 11:18:33 +0000 UTCSeveral people in this story are seen standing form in what they believe to be true despite what people close to them say in many circumstances. Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, itachi. I can go on. Seeing all of this makes her look weak to me. You're welcomed to believe otherwise, but I don't.
NARIOUS DIXON
2024-09-13 11:10:31 +0000 UTCAgain she's not weak. Her emotional state is rocked right now because her mentor is out of commission, so she's in no clear state of mind to make any kind of decisions. Two people she trusts are taking advantage of her emotional state and forcing her into submission. With Tsunade out cold Sakura has no means of fighting back against this decision because she's clearly outnumbered. She had to go along with what they said, they didn't give her a choice.
Brianda Sandoval
2024-09-13 10:52:14 +0000 UTCMy point still stands. She knows naruto better than them and allowing them to manipulate her into doing that makes her weak as a character. She was already weak went it came to Sasuke so it's not surprising. People don't take responsibility for their own actions nearly enough in this story. It's always someone else's fault.
NARIOUS DIXON
2024-09-13 10:43:50 +0000 UTCNaruto is such a G for calling her out and seeing through the bs

2024-09-13 10:43:03 +0000 UTCShe's not stupid. Sai gaslit her when she was at her most vulnerable while she's been looking after Tsunade. You think you're going to think straight when someone who's like a mother to you is unconscious and someone you consider a friend is attacking your character while another supposed friend forces you to be on their side knowing she has no support. Nah Sai and Shikamaru were the jerks here.

Chris Sullivan
2024-09-13 10:26:50 +0000 UTCAnd Sakura just willingly went along with Sai's view. She knows Naruto better than Sai. This makes her stupid for falling for it.
NARIOUS DIXON
2024-09-13 10:26:45 +0000 UTCNuh uh, Sai's the one who put all that emotional baggage on her when she's already going through a bad time with Tsunade being in the state that she's in and to make matters worse Shikamaru went and piled on too. This is about Sasuke and they're the ones who made it about her. Naruto willfully taking that beating had nothing to do with Sakura and Sai directed his own anger about the situation at her and she didn't deserve that.
Brianda Sandoval
2024-09-13 10:20:56 +0000 UTCThe story failed at making me care about Sakuras feelings from the start so at this point I especially dont care. None of this actually goes anywhere in the coming story line anyways. Naruto had every intention of bringing Sasuke back before Sakura said anything. She just thought it was all about her.
NARIOUS DIXON
2024-09-13 10:06:14 +0000 UTCMaybe its the only way she can think of, but its still cruel. Telling someone you love them but are lying? Wtf is that. Naruto has liked her since Part 1, but all she ever did was talk down to him. And now, the ONLY time his feelings were reciprocated, its not even true.

2024-09-13 09:42:53 +0000 UTCI feel for Sakura here. This was the only way she could think of to try attempt to protect Naruto from whats about to become of Sasuke. She put herself out there, even if only on a lie but it failed because Naruto is so determined to save Sasuke. There was never any way she was going to convince him to stop going after Sasuke. After being broken by Sai's words, she has seemingly accepted a very heavy burden... Still don't like that the bitch punches Naruto for no reason half the time though

2024-09-13 07:06:12 +0000 UTCThe most misunderstood moment in the whole series is Sakura's decision imo. Sometimes it's necessary to do something morally wrong to protect someone from themselves especially someone as stubborn as Narutoāthe guy is starting to put rescuing Sasuke above everything including his own life, which is ridiculous. Sakura may have played with Naruto's emotions but I think that it was the only possible chance anyone had to get him to forget about Sasuke who quite frankly doesn't deserve the grace that his friend is giving him. I admire Sakura for having the balls to put Naruto's safety above their friendship it takes a lot of guts to make that kind of sacrifice because you have to be willing to trade a certain amount of respect to do it, something not many people are willing to do.

2024-09-13 06:48:16 +0000 UTCand here is a poem i had generated for it. A burden placed by words of doubt, Her heart in turmoil, twisting out. Her master's gone, her love's in pain, And friends once close now bring disdain. She spoke a lie to guard the truth, A clumsy shield to save her youth. But deep within, her hope's still bright, She knows her ally holds the light. Though darkness pulls her love away, She trusts Naruto not to sway. Beneath the weight of hurt and fear, She still protects what she holds dear.

2024-09-13 06:47:10 +0000 UTCHere you go i converted it into two walls of text :) It is not manipulation; Sakura is trying to release Naruto from the burden of his promise because it was Sai who had convinced her, through his own manipulation, that Narutoās feelings for her were deeper than they actually were. If Sai hadn't filled her head with such thoughts, making her feel like a burden on Naruto, Sakura likely wouldn't have approached the situation the way she did. Sai planted the seed by essentially telling her that she was an emotional curse mark on Naruto, dragging him down. At this point in time, Sakura is overwhelmed. Her mentor, Tsunade, is in a coma, and the man she deeply loves is being drawn further into the darkness. On top of that, her peersāpeople she once considered close friendsāhave suddenly turned on her, pressuring her into siding with them in their plan to take down Sasuke, a former teammate and someone dear to her heart. Itās a lot to deal with, and sheās barely holding it together emotionally. Naruto has endured far worse than a simple white lie, and Sakura knows heās resilient enough to bounce back from it. What sheās counting on is the fact that Naruto is not only smarter but also far more empathetic than the toxic and misogynistic fandom that constantly tears her down. Funny how so few people consider that maybe Sakura deliberately said something so outrageous, not because she was being manipulative, but because she wanted to shock Naruto. By catching him off guard, she hoped to make him more alert to what was happening around them. Clearly, she still wants to protect Sasuke, and while her approach might have been clumsy, her intentions were good. She wanted to warn Naruto about the decision their classmates had made regarding Sasuke, but with Sai, Kiba, and Lee all present, she couldn't openly reveal the truth. Sakura found herself in a precarious situation. She felt she had no choice but to agree with their plan because going against all of them at once wasn't a feasible option. Her usual support system was no longer in placeāTsunade was injured and out of commission, and Naruto was really the only person left she could count on. Deep down, Sakura knows that Naruto would never betray Sasuke, and in that knowledge, she takes a calculated risk, banking on his loyalty even as she navigates the emotional and moral complexities of her own circumstances.

2024-09-13 06:42:25 +0000 UTCIt is not manipulation. She's trying to unburden him from the promise because Sai is the one who gaslit her into believing Naruto's feelings were more than what they were. I guarantee Sakura would not have gone that route if Sai literally didn't tell her she was a cursemark on Naruto. She's going through a lot right now; her master's in a coma and the person she loves is being corrupted by evil. Then all of a sudden her classmates decide to gang up on her and pressure her into making the tough decision to side with them to take her former teammate down. Naruto's been through so much worse to let a little white lie get him down; good thing he's smarter and more empathetic than the toxic misogynistic fandom. Funny how no one even tries to consider that Sakura deliberately said something so outrageous for the sole purpose of catching Naruto off guard to put him on alert; clearly she still wants to protect Sasuke and while it came off clumsily on her part she wanted to warn Naruto about the decision all their peers made but she couldn't tell him the actual truth because Kiba, Lee and Sai were all there. Sakura only agreed to be on their side because she can't go against all of them; she no longer has Tsunade's support because she's injured and Naruto's still her only ally who she knows would never betray Sasuke.
