The same reason Yura helped them get Gaara kidnapped. Kabuto had a jutsu placed on him that he'd forget he was working for Sasori and went to work for Orochimaru for 5 years. The intention was to keep an eye on him after Orochimaru left the Akatsuki to make sure he didn't try anything or kill him later. The thing is is even Sasori couldn't control what his spies did when he released the jutsu. In Yura's case, he helped get Gaara taken and betrayed the sand. Kabuto however, had become a firm believer and follower to Orochimaru, so he played the part as if he was telling Sasori everything he wanted to hear expecting the real one, not expecting the leaf in disguise.
