We certainly could have been given more but I still think we were given enough as to why these two feel the way they do for each other and I think the story's more unique that they don't share a more conventional friendship. Honestly I'm not the best person to explain this topic; I believe there's a youtuber called HotBoySpicy who makes Naruto content who made a two part video on Naruto and Sasuke's dynamic and he goes over a lot of important aspects through the show on why Naruto and Sasuke are so connected in a way that's even deeper than friendship. Now this was always something I agreed with before I even saw the video but he was much more efficient in explaining it.

2023-10-19 04:18:29 +0000 UTCLike I said their friendship is different not every single individual person is the type to socialize with others and Sasuke falls under that banner but you can still have a relationship with someone even if you don't spend a lot of time together. Team 7 had already done many d rank missions together before the Land of Waves arc so they would have had to have spent a lot of time together so they weren't strangers to each other you're not going to see him and Naruto doing mundane little things around the village but they clearly understand each other in a way no one else does just based on when they fight together or each other. Comrades can mean your best friends but it also means those you fight with and Shikamaru clearly wasn't referring to the former. I used the word comrade because that's what was in the original sub version when Sasuke's talking about how he never wants to see them fall ever again but in the dub they changed it to say I don't ever want to see my best friends falling before me so Sasuke's using the word in a manner that means friendship which is what he thinks of Naruto and Sakura when they were under attack by Gaara. The more life and death situations they went through together the closer they got and they clearly care for each other very much; Sasuke's also holding back in this fight in his own way where he's trying to hurt Naruto with his words so Naruto will think Sasuke truly doesn't care and he'll back off and leave him to his path. Sasuke did every humiliating thing he could think of to Naruto like insult him, spit on him and injure him all so he wouldn't interfere in his plans before resolving to kill him but we hear in his inner thoughts he really does think of Naruto as a friend. Naruto wants to protect the bond between the two because he feels he failed Sasuke by not reaching out to him sooner that's why he doesn't want to lose the connection they already have while Sasuke wants to sever it completely to discard any remnants of the life he's trying to leave behind.

This was literally after he said he didn't like him. Being comrades and being best friends are not the same thing. The friendship aspect of there connection was still lacking. They were definitely comrades and rivals but that was about it.

I think we were given just enough of Naruto and Sasuke bonding as a squad especially in the Land of Waves where they competed and trained together climbing trees and how they could know what the other is thinking when they teamed against Zabuza then Sasuke almost dying to protect Naruto. They also went through a lot in the chunin exams together like in the forest against Orochimaru or against Gaara in the invasion. Only they can understand the feeling of lonliness so they're connected in that way as well. Sasuke has always been a very quiet reserved person and he's not social at all so of course you weren't going to see moments of him hanging out with Naruto at the ramen shop or joining him in his antics around the village because Sasuke's just not the hang out type but it doesn't mean their friendship's nonexistent it's just different than say like what Shikamaru and Choji have because they're not rivals like Naruto and Sasuke so there's no competitive edge and they're both more sociable but Sasuke has proven in all of the arcs prior to this one that he would lay his life on the line for Naruto and Sakura who he himself called his comrades.

Like my full conscious was dissapearing and I'd die while another being took over my body. Man I had to fight for my life. Man idk how we did it but while I thought I was completely drained of energy I had one final desperate burst of energy to try one last time to force it back inside with my mind and every drop of willpower while the others helped of course. Cause they couldn't even help alone

2023-10-19 01:02:12 +0000 UTCSasuke actually doesn't know about Naruto having the nine tails inside him because the third Hokage deemed it a secret from both the villagers and their children but the adults found out anyway because the secret was leaked but the kids have no idea. He was always absent or unconscious when Naruto would unleash that chakra and in the battle with Gaara that wasn't the real fox, it was transformation with Gamabunta.

It was mostly just talked about, unlike some of the other connections so far and are yet to be seen. But again, that's just me.

2023-10-19 00:37:15 +0000 UTCMany people tend to argue in the Naruto fandom that Sasuke wasn’t stronger than Naruto here and he only won because Naruto was handicapped, why was Naruto handicapped you asked? because he didn’t want to kill him and had emotional ties, Sasuke didn’t care about that so he could fight free will and didnt have that restraint. However I do believe we will never truly know, Sasuke got a huge boost obtaining the coma sharingan in this fight and also clearly having the curse mark at level 2
