And I am soo freaking excited for Madison's reaction to see 1.) Rock Lee stepping back into action to save Naruto.... 2.) Rock Lee's drunken fist 3.) Gaara, Kankuro and Temari saving the others 4.) the fight between Naruto and Sasuke

Shikamaru knew going into the mission they were gonna have to use force to bring him back since she couldn't convince him. I think it would have turned out differently if lets say Sasuke used lethal force against a comrade i.e. Sakura and beat her senseless before leaving.
