Con-Plague Update and UC1 German translation

As promised, here is the con-plague update. I am feeling better...ish. However, I also spent most of the last 24 hours sleeping, dozing, or napping...and I'm still feeling tired. I'm not coughing constantly anymore, but my entire torso aches because of all the coughing I was doing. So, the current level of coughing actually hurts more, even though its happening less. Which just seems super-unfair to me.

I also realized that aside from doing a load of laundry and forcing myself to go to the grocery store when I got home, I've basically done nothing. I didn't unpack anything else. I didn't do any chores. Nuthin. Needless to say, I'm not feeling super creative at the moment. I may try to finish the Baron Assassin chapter I started at the convention just to test the waters. And also because I'd only need to write about half as many words to finish it. But even that will really depend on whether I feel better later than I do right now.

At the moment, all I want to do is possibly take a hot shower and, honestly, take another nap. Maybe order in some ramen. That's the level of my ambition right now. Maybe take a shower and order food from the internet. Maybe.

In other news, Unintended Cultivator Volume One is getting a German translation and release on Amazon.de. So, if there are any native German speakers subscribed here who wished I wrote in German, your time has come! You can find the pre-order page for the German edition here. It releases on September 30, 2025.

For anyone who is curious, in German, Unintended Cultivator is written as Unbeabsichtigt Kultivator. Neat, right? Here's the cover.

Thanks for the heads up. I have passed that along to my publisher. In my defense, I had no hand in the translation. I know my limits. It's also entirely possible that it was just transcribed wrong while someone was in a hurry. Fortunately, the publication date is several weeks away. So, it should be an easy enough fix since these are all digital files rather than physical art.

Hi Eric, just a little heads up cause this could potentially affect your release of the German edition of UC1… German adjectives used before a noun (attributive adjectives) are declined: they get an ending that shows the noun’s gender (masculine/feminine/neuter), case (N/A/D/G) and number (singular/plural), and also depends on whether the noun is preceded by a definite article, the word “ein”, or no article. So the bare form “unbeabsichtigt” becomes unbeabsichtigt- + ending. Unintended Cultivator becomes “Unbeabsichtigter Kultivator”. Gender of “Kultivator”: male; case: Nominativ; number: Singular. There is no form or phrasing where “Unbeabsichtigt Kultivator” would be grammatically correct. Feel better soon! Greetings from Munich, Germany

Take it slow and nap a lot!
