Got it! No shorts here!
Added 2023-11-20 06:27:08 +0000 UTCSo almost no one cares to see shorts, at least here on patreon! Good, less work for me!!! Maybe if I have something original and interesting I'll share it here, but otherwise I won't bug you with shorts.
I didn't really want to get into shorts unless I had an idea that wouldn't go above a minute. But with the new YouTube ecosystem I think I'll be left behind if I don't jump on the short trend. I really try to keep them at some decent quality with some good message though. None of those rubbish part 1 part 2 nonesence, and certainly no dancing in underwear!!!
Have fun everyone!

A lot of people discover creators through TikTok a lot these days, especially for my Age Group (21 - 26). You should consider making a TikTok Account and post clips on there.

2023-11-29 08:00:01 +0000 UTCQuite a few creators found that shorts actually decrease the viewing numbers on their main channel.

2023-11-21 20:43:47 +0000 UTCPeople here are already fans so there is bias. You should absolutely continue making shorts / tik toks and farm viral clips - the exposure and viewership is insane. Who cares if people hate - they don't have to watch.

2023-11-20 22:10:27 +0000 UTCI'm with Matt Dawson on this - I hate shorts, never ever click on them, avoid them if someone sends me links to them, and have a browser tweak that removes them completely from my channel feeds.

2023-11-20 20:05:56 +0000 UTCI utterly loathe Shorts, absolutely will not click on any even when it's original content from my most favourite channels. I wish we could filter them out. They're just worthless little glimpses costing more in time and effort to view than any value they can offer in return. Unfortunately, content creators are under pressure from YouTube because the corporates are afraid of missing out on a market segment to competitors. I suspect the short-form platforms like TikTok emerged, not because there was a market of viewers with no attention-span (although of course they exist), but to attract material from a vast pool of talentless attention-seekers who are incapable of providing worthwhile or long-form content.

2023-11-20 14:19:39 +0000 UTCI can't say i'm the most hip guy, but I think you got here on your curretn, smart and longer content, it should be good. you might be able to get a little more pull with shorts, but.. it's hard work. you could probably extract some scenes where you "carefully" do something for it to blow in your face, and l keep your frustrated look after, or the "don't do x, without having done y before", since they already exist. see if thta garners attention. then goind forward, maybe keep an eye on it as you cut your norrmal video, what parts are already mostly self contained. perhaps "try fail fade try fail fade try fail SUCCESS!" ones could be good.

2023-11-20 10:57:21 +0000 UTCyou could take some of you best bits from your videos (mostly being shocked) and upload it to tiktok. Ive seen so many fan pages on TikTok putting up videos of you.

2023-11-20 10:32:05 +0000 UTCWatching you dance in underwear .. now that I would watch! But rehashed mini versions of your awesome videos .. not interested either.

2023-11-20 08:04:51 +0000 UTCTrue. The YouTube algorithm requires you to do shorts. Which is unfortunate for us old people who prefer quality content. I don't watch shorts on principle, so I get annoyed when creators put original content in them.

2023-11-20 06:57:29 +0000 UTCDo what most youtubers do for shorts: 1) Cut small bits from your videos and ship them as shorts 2) Topics, that are too short for a video. I could suggest the rectifyer could do shorts once in a while for a single post

2023-11-20 06:49:44 +0000 UTCI don't mind the concept of shorts though, if it's new content or you want to get feedback from the boomers, I think it's fine! But I've watched the old videos so much that clips from them are not that interesting to me personally, but keep posting them on the other platforms, I'm sure they bring in new people!

2023-11-20 06:46:52 +0000 UTCAnother option is to film you demonstrating how *not* to handle electricity in various ways... all creating electric 'shorts'... :D

2023-11-20 06:33:10 +0000 UTCShorts are one of those things right, low retention, crap edits with bad music get popular, zoom crop's of others videos get popular, all kinds of things. I think probably one of the closest things this audience would appreciate is things like NileRed. But it's hard to know what will and won't work. The joys of the job. I think for your education approach, you might be able to target the new short attention span generation with shorts, but for your main audience, probably different style all together.
