Planes of Existence: long-term vision

This is my vision of how the game can look like after it gets into the beta stage. I plan to add not only different species to be/play as, but also show their life.

There will be building, crafting, farming, gathering aspects in addition to simulation and combat. I want to let you create your own settlements where you can invite NPCs (ones that like you) and players to live with! And together you can work towards your in-game goals, NPCs can help gathering and maintaining farms. They also can "assist" you to lay some eggs and raise hatchlings, so your babies can help you with everyday tasks.

The crystal in the middle is designed to protect your settlement when you're logged off on a multiplayer server. I want to give you a feel of home in the game, and not afraid that your entire village you cherish will be completely raided and destroyed when you're offline. For some people raiding is fun though, this is why the level of protected regions can be configured differently on each server, allowing PvE and various degrees of PvP servers to exist.

I will not hide that the inspiration to make this comes, obviously, from heavily modded Minecraft. I had so much fun playing these mod-packs (FTB, Skyblock, etc)... The imagination of fans who created these tech and magic mods that completely transform the game is indeed, inspiring.

Overall, it still stays a sandbox game where you are not forced to do anything specific. This is just another thing that certain players will find interesting for them. If you don't like building, take that Hovercart with you and go explore and gather loot all around the world and under it, or just play minigames with friends :}

So, that's it for today! let me know in the comments what do you think about my long-term vision of the game!

Comments

I have played both vanilla and heavily modded minecraft and enjoyed both aspects. two mod packs that jump to mind are Regrowth and Tolkiencraft 2. They add story to the minecraft that follows the theme of the mod packs involved. Other mods i really enjoy were the survival mods which changed how the environment works and adds a level of physics to the blocks and gasses to the world. The things i enjoy in a game and would be interested in doing would come out to questing and interacting with the world, building, exploring and gathering, fighting(in a pve nature) and if available puzzles/riddles. My curiosity is peeked at the aspect of breeding and i have a few question towards that at a later time but i would probably be interested in that as well. Other games i have played are WoW, Gw2, Starbound, Skyrim, and many others on the steam platform.

I've Played Spore, Doom,Starcraft 2 On My Computer. I'm A Huge Digimon Fan. I've Played Many VideoGames Since I was 4 And I'm 29 Now. This Game Sounds Like It Will Be Awesome.Why? Because I've Loved Dragons And Dinosaurs Since I've Seen Them.I Am A Creative Artist And They Inspire Me To Work And Create Great Pieces of Art,Pieces People Remember. I Have But One Big Question? What Would It Be Played On, A Computer Game Or A Council VideoGame System???

modded* and accidentally sent that comment before finishing; and I think a mixture of creating (building and breeding) with exploration might be interesting; combat could be too, depending on how it is implemented (something that makes full use of creature anatomy perhaps? )

Ofcourse, there are much things to think about first and design them, I'm just sharing a general idea with you guys :} Without writing a very long comment about all that, but I will make sure every thing has its purpose ^^.

This looks like a very cool concept so far. I gotta say, I'm really just digging the ideas you're putting forth. Never stop, keep at it until you have what you envisioned! I hope to eventually see some sort of modular support for avatars to allow global, player-made customization ... and [looks like you covered this already] for players to be able to run their own server with their own rules. I can see this game catching a lot of flak for explicit adult content involving the breeding aspect, so the option to disable that will be important to anyone running a public, non-secured [no password] server. Regardless of the mod packs you talk about in minecraft, they all share two common grounds: 1. Convenience - "Why don't we have drills and automatic mining machines already? I'mma make them." 2. Options- "I don't really like swinging a sword, a mage is more my style." When you put a feature into a game, it needs to either be useful or provide value to the player. Additionally, it must not combine with other features in a way that makes the entire experience overly complex. You will have a lot of work ahead of you in simply designing a UI and proper tooltips. Also, bit of feedback from the current tech demo, you gotta rethink the camera angle. Is the isometric view something you intend to keep, or will we see more first-person and over-the-shoulder views and a control scheme relative to our character rather than the camera?

Well, having an open-world Pvp zone (like they did in The Division) would be something that requires a lot of fancy tech to implement, as it would require a master-server to store your progress on... Not something I can do honestly, but there will be at least different servers hosted by people that have various settings for resource rates and pvp settings.

It will be necessary to progress only on the building-specific tree. But there are other "knowledge trees" themed to different things to unlock stuff :}

I hope to see an option to play my creature without urbanization as neccessary to progress, and remain interesting. I guess that is one of your challenges.

I look forward to the gathering, PvE and there could totally be a open world Pvp zone where there are better materials but the risk of dying is higher x3 Idk.. But so far it looks great and like something that has a future.
