RIP Sexyfur.com, Aug 2000-Mar 2025

Sexyfur is basically dead. I can't get anyone competent enough to fix its problems, the cost of the server is huge, the economy is in shambles from years of communist looters, sales are down, and it's just not sustainable from a monetary, functionality, and stress standpoint for me anymore. I don't know what to do other than just shut it down.

Things have been so broken that no new signups have been possible for the past month. The bureaucracy in the billing company was so slow to deal with proving that I am who I am just so they would deal with my tech requests, that it took an entire month to straighten out, despite the fact that I have been a client of theirs for 20 years.

Now nothing works and we can't fix it, and nobody wants to take the initiative to get it done. Billing side blames code side, code side blames billing side, and it's killing us. Absolute insanity. You would think that both of them lose a client and the money from the client if they don't fix things, but no. This is the world now, a bunch of lazy incompetents with things falling apart around them, and they are afraid to put in any effort. I will still continue the patreon stuff since it costs me nothing to maintain, but I think there's just no choice but to let Sexyfur die.

I've been talking with EltonPot and he is ok with bringing his art in here. So we'll do a joint Patreon and see how it goes.

It's been an interesting 25 years, and I thank you all for your support.

I will continue doing art and helping other artists as I have been these years. It will just be on Patreon and Subscribestar as the payment gateways, and publishing the content via the Discord community. Please join us and support the continuation of our arts. Thanks!

Shame about SF, I was a member on and off since 2011 I think. This Patreon + Discord is a great substitute though because I also really love Elton’s art.

This is tragic, but I suppose all things must die at some point. Not only a legend in the furry fandom, but another aspect of the early internet landscape/culture dies today. What about some of the other artists like Chococosalo and their work? I was never able to find where they post stuff besides Sexyfur. All the same, thank you for everything, and a toast to the site’s 25 years.

This is truly a shame to see the end of something that, like for me, was one of the first main exposures to furry content 13 years ago. I understand the reasoning why it's come to this, and that makes this outcome all the more sad. Thru no fault of your own, the fandom looses a long running fixture that housed really great artists. Heck, I joined because this was "THE PLACE" to see EltonPot and your content. I also wouldn't have discovered Chococosalo if not for this site. I know I'm just repeating at this point, but this really is a true shame things have come to this. I'm really sorry it's come to this for you/the site, JB.

I'm critical regarding a joint Patreon. I was also a Sexyfur subscriber, but switched to Patreon as I'm only interested in your artworks, Jeremy. I don't want to critizise or talk ill of EltonPot. I'm just not interested in his artstyle. So if a joint Patreon cause that we get less Jeremy Bernal art, this would be a pure downgrade for me.

First site I ever subbed to when i was old enough to get a credit card. Man, talk about end of an era.

Damn. Sexyfur was literally the first website I subscribed to. That’s a damn shame but I understand with the trends for this type of content it just makes the most sense to run the payment through it. It would be nice just to avoid possible Patreon and possible future Discord censorship to have a site just for accessing the content like some other artists do… as long as it doesn’t cost too much for the server. There’s a simple API to pass credentials that you could use to handle tiers (e.g Hangover Cat) or monthly updating passwords like lots of folks do. TBH using Discord is really painful as a way to access and archive content. I would definitely do a temporary upgrade to a premium tier for an archive of everything that is organized and easily downloaded, and then some sort of revised upper tier for the multiple SF artists since the main value for an ongoing sub is new content. I’m sure everyone is going to be sad, but this feels like just an evolution that will hopefully just become a lower overhead income stream. Maybe we could get some sort of celebratory collab art with each artist’s main characters to mark the occasion?

I've been with you on SF since basically the beginning. I'll transfer my SF payments to upgrade my patreon another tier

Such incompetence on their side. All they wan is the money and not give the service. It was a good run and I salute you.
