Ch 30 Time Capsule Part 1

"So, What you're saying is that there is a Dark Lord out there out there..." the floating magical ball said quizzically, "Who you're sure is my brother's successor,"

"Yes," Sirius said firmly nodding his head, "Voldemort uses too many magics that had never been seen before by even the most well-read... and many of them were also used by your brother...like the Horcrux, the Taboo spell, the withering curse, and—Wait your brother wasn't capable of flying without a broom, Was he?"

"Hmm...Not as far as I know," the voice from the past said after some contemplation.

"He wasn't?" Sirius said with his head tilted, "Then maybe that was one of his inventions which wouldn't be a surprise considering he was one of a kind genius," he mumbled to himself before he raised his head and said, "Nevertheless, there are too many coincidences... plus when he lost his body and became a wraith, the first place he looked for asylum was in Albania... the exact place where your brother's home or his tomb would be..."

"Seems a bit farfetched but still...considering all the stories you've told me about this Voldemort, it seems probable," The voice said in a pondering tone, "You say he became a wraith huh... meaning that it would only be a matter of finding a Horcrux to kill him for good... which would be a pain unless you have my luck—"

"Horcruxes!" Sirius interrupted.

"What?"

"Not Horcrux, but Horcruxes..." Sirius answered with a shrug, "He created seven to be exact,"

"What...That..." The voice was completely speechless for the first time, "That's just the epitome of foolishness, even creating a single of these abominations would be debilitating to you and this foolish man created seven of them... To think someone would willingly lower their own soul's stability and their mental faculties just to have a little more assurance... I can't even comprehend his thought process..."

"You could say that he really REALLY didn't want to die..." Sirius chuckled darkly.

"I can't believe someone could be this brilliant yet insane—Wait," the voice suddenly stopped mid-introspection, "I think some of my brother's notes from his experiments mentioned something along these lines... where he tried to create more than one Horcrux but in the end he deemed it as a failure as thought that it would turn even the most strong-willed insane..."

"You have your brother's experiment notes?"

"Of course," the voice said smugly, "They were among the things I stole from his home... Hehe...He was probably very frustrated when he found that his life's work and the work behind all his experiments was stolen from him just like that..."

"Say if you have all the notes...then is there anything inside there that would be helpful in removing a Horcrux from a living being without them dying," Sirius asked hopefully. He was finally getting to the goal of this whole trip so he was very anxious.

"Maybe... But why do you want to know," asked the voice, a tiny hint of suspicion in his voice.

"It's like this, My godson..." Sirius explained everything from Voldemort's rise to that Halloween night when James and Lily died and how Harry became a Horcrux and even the prophecy regarding that.

"That is pitiful... A child having to live with a cursed thing like a Horcrux is just..." the voice said sympathetically.

"So... Is there anything that could help,"

"Let me think..." said the magical ball thoughtfully, "Hmm... If I am not wrong then was a phase in the experiments where My brother was obsessed with possession, he did a lot of experiments on trying to insert a Horcrux into a living person to see if a person can divide himself into two and be in two places at the same time—"

"Wait he used his own Horcrux," Sirius interrupted skeptically.

"Of course not," the magical ball denied derisively, "There was no way he would experiment with his own life which he considered more precious than anything else. He used slaves; he forced them to create Horcrux of their own and did a lot of experiments on them,"

"Wizard Slaves?" Sirius asked with wide eyes, as he couldn't imagine a scenario where a person who could do magic would willingly be a slave under someone.

"Yes, Of course... Now, come with me," The voice said and the magical ball slowly floated away toward the bookshelves, "They should be somewhere around here... yes this section," the ball was floating in front of the corner of the bookshelf where a single shelf was filled with papers in bindings, "These are all the notes that he wrote about his experiments... I didn't go into details when I read them... but if there is any kind of solution then you should be able to find it here,"

Sirius didn't even wait for him to finish and immediately pulled out the first diary, it was in very good condition considering how old it was but it was probably because of some kind of preservation magic.

He spent about five hours scouring through all his notes, there were a lot of horrific experiments that Herpo did, some were even done on infants, which Sirius just skimmed through. It was only at the end that he found the thing that he was looking for.

Herpo did do those experiments of trying to see if a Wizard's horcrux was able to possess another body and basically create a clone. He was pretty unsuccessful, as it seemed that the Horcrux being a part of a soul was always weaker than the one it was trying to possess which had a complete soul.

But the thing that was relevant to him was a section where he discussed it being a waste to create a new Horcrux every time he started a new experiment so he devised a way in which he could safely extract a Horcrux and the only ingredient required was a spell and the bigger soul of the Horcrux to attract it.

"Looks like you found it," the voice of the floating magic ball came from behind him.

"Yes, it would be useful if it worked, But..." Sirius said with a troubled expression, "The bigger soul or the main soul is required for it to be possible and I don't think that it would be easy to get Voldermort to cooperate..."

"That is indeed a dilemma," the voice said thoughtfully, "But you said that he created multiple Horcruxes didn't you? So what if you somehow managed to gather a few pieces of his soul then you could combine them to act as the main soul... I think it should work the same,"

"That's great," Sirius said jubilantly, "Now I should quickly go back, the sooner that Horcrux is removed the better—"

"About that..." the magical ball said hesitantly, "You won't be able to leave for a while yet..."

"Huh... What do you mean?" Sirius turned and asked, he was already considering how to fit all the books inside the bookshelf into his pouch when the good Herpo started saying some ominous things.

"Well, you see... When I created this set-up, I had in mind that the one who would enter would be a person who came here to be my apprentice so I had a Time zone created especially for this which means that the moment your friend left... this place became a sealed one where you can only leave after fairy dust had been completely used..." the magical ball said sheepishly.

"How long?" Sirius asked apprehensively.

"Hmm... If I take into account how long it is in the future... and that the time in here runs basically about 10 times faster than the one outside... then it would take about 5 years inside and about 6 months of real-world time,"

"So you mean to say that I am basically trapped here until then..." Sirius said dumbfoundedly.

"Trapped!? NO! This is basically an opportunity for you to learn everything I know from me and anyway, if you want to defeat my brother then your best chance would be to become my successor,"

"Really..." Sirius said sceptically, "But aren't you just a Healer? And besides didn't you just hide when your brother came knocking on your door... How are you even going to help me..."

"Just a Healer!" the voice shouted indignantly, "I don't think you understand the kinds of things I was able to do...I assure you that by the time you leave here, you would be a completely changed man..."
