A Fox And Her Pet: Chill Party

Hello everyone!

I wanted to get this up a few days ago, but things here have been... very busy. Busy in good ways, and busy in bad ways. This past week or so the situation here has kind of come to a head, which has meant a lot of time going back and forth to the hospital and a lot of conversations with social workers about my Mum's ultimate fate which has left me drained of my social battery.

This doesn't mean that I can't work - I've been writin' and programmin' every dang day, it's nice - but it does make it hard to do public-facing things like post stuff here or other places. This barrier is something that I'm working on... always. Like if I have to go to the dentist or the doctor or anything personal back home it pretty much throws me off, and this is really inconvenient because not posting things when I want to post them ultimately leads to me feeling drained.

Deep down I'm an enormous, enormous introvert, so public posts can be hard. They've certainly gotten easier over the years - it would be silly if they haven't - but working myself up to 'em is always a process. I guess the best thing to compare it to would be something like a public performance. I'm going on a metaphorical stage and showing my stuff off, and that requires a certain level of confidence.

Don't get me wrong, I love posting my stuff up. I wouldn't do it otherwise! It's more the process of posting it. Opening up the page, writing the post, thinking about what I want to say and how I want to put it all together... that stuff. When it's all up and posted and available, I get this great sense of relief and pride that's incredibly cathartic.

Anyway, I feel like I'm making excuses. To cut a long story short, sorry this is a couple of days late! The good news is that A Tiny Furry In A Huge World Plus is on track for the end of the month and the rest of the content I have planned on here for this month is good to go too, so... shouldn't be any more delays!

Onto better news...

A few months ago I got into a conversation with AnirusFere, who, if you don't know, is a super prolific writer who also happens to delve into macro/micro stuff. Like a lot of macro/micro stuff, actually! It's all super good and he tends to delve into a variety of different flavours and situations much like I do, so if you're into my stuff then there's a good chance you'll be into his too. And probably vice versa? He has a whole website, just click that link...

Anyway! I'm a big fan of his work and he ended up being a big fan of mine, so we decided to do a bit of a collab and I've finally gotten around to writing the first part of it. It's going to be a multi-part series. How many parts? I dunno, we'll see, I'm not putting any more stuff on my list than I already have right now, but there is definitely a second part that will be coming fairly soon. It's probably one of those stories that I could just write part after part for honestly since it's a fairly chill and low key sorta setting with fun and bouncy characters and lots of interesting ideas. But, y'know, novel on the way, lots of commissions to do, like three games to make...

Anyway, without further adieu... here's a 10000 word tale about a fox and her pet! Or more a fox and her property, really...

Awakening in a new world, Mathew finds himself in a place where individuals of his size are considered pests at best, and food or entertainment at worst. Here though, his regenerative powers keep him from passing onto another reality.

Stuck in a brutal world, he offers himself to the owner of the apartment he's in - a Kitsune named Kyobi, who is planning a small party in the near future. Will she be intrigued by the tiny one's antics, or is he doomed to be a stain on the bottom of her paw...

Thank you once again to everyone for your continued patience. It's looking like I'm going to be here for at least another month, but with how recent developments have gone it'll be a much easier to manage. For one, they're moving Mum from the hospital to a care facility, which means that the amount of commuting that I'll have to do every day has gone from four hours to like... fifteen minutes. She's also going to be in the best place for her, which means that I don't need to fret going back and forthOn top of that, I am genuinely doing my best to carve out a groove here and get into a productive routine. We're spiralling upwards, not downwards, I swear...
