The part about hating being filmed is so real! I work retail and I was just helping a customer find some shoes/boots. Got his size, he was super happy and loved the fit, and started singing about his boots. Then he whips out his phone recording the new boots and singing and turns on me and asks for my name while filming 😭😭😭 I throw up my hand and say β€œnah nah there’s no need for all that” and after a couple more rejections over the span of a couple seconds he finally turns the camera away. AND THEN HE LISTENS/WATCHES THE VIDEO FOR ANOTHER 3 MINUTES JUST SITTING DOWN WITH FULL VOLUME

see I love a proper tsundere character! the story sounds interesting though

Wishy

You make a great point. She's fierce and the concept of her character is great but the attitude and dialogue is so lame and cringy

Wishy

Aww I hope you got things resolved with your car. That's the worst!

I actually started reading "What the River Knows" by Isabel IbaΓ±ez, and I gotta admit, the story itself is very interesting. The main character, Inez, is a pretty flawed character, though, and it comes from her background - a wealthy Argentinean, and though she is described as having a wild spirit, it doesn't serve out well for her, especially when she ventures to Egypt to find her parents, who are presumed dead. She also has something of a enemies-to-lovers situation with her "bodyguard", British-born Whitford Hayes, who I can describe as being charming but morally grey. He acts like a sparky tsundere, but it's evident he develops feelings for her, even though - minor spoiler alert - he's been arranged to marry someone. Does he love his arranged partner? No, but he hides this from her. Also, turns out he also comes from a wealthy family, so this would create some serious issues. I personally would give it a 6.5/10. One point off because the author made a historical inaccuracy.

Okay, let me tell you something. What you're describing about Dianna, that's not "internalized misogyny". It's recognizing that she is not a well-developed character. It sounds like she has a problem reminiscent of Korra from "The Legend of Korra" - albeit, Korra starts off sparky and rough-headed, but it comes apart when the world starts falling down on her shoulders and she adjusts her character to pick up the weight. Dianna doesn't sound like she does that, and you know what? So many other ladies do it, too, like Captain Marvel from the MCU. Development of a character is important, whether they grow as a person, or they become fractured. And fracturing a female character is NOT reinforcing misogynistic ideals - not unless the misogyny is very apparent, like you can tell the author doesn't like women. Everyone likes a character that changes, whether for better or for worse.

A wishful thinking to make the day better, but just to make things worse I may not have a flat tire on my truck to make it all worse, this month hasn't been nice at all, maybe some cringe culture will help from wish :)

I just got out of the gym! This will be a nice listen to pair with some Chinese food.
