2025-09-28 16:25:46 +0000 UTCThe music in KPDH has a bit more English than I usually hear in k-pop, but most of the stuff I listen to is from the 90s and early 00s (SES was my favorite band for a hot minute). The only k-pop tracks I've heard recently were viral songs that had almost a 50/50 split of English and Korean and it really messed with my ears. XD

Also, loved that you took notes to help you remember things. I have seen this movie so many times now (because my kids are obsessed) and I still cry every time when Rumi says "All of me!" To Celine. And when they sing What it sounds like. 😭😭😭 its a beautiful movie with such an interesting story and amazing animation. 💜

2025-08-31 05:41:04 +0000 UTCOne of the things that hurts about the scene when Mira and Zoey find out about Rumi’s patterns and going all the way through to when Rumi talks with Celine is that in the background you can hear Golden being played in the minor key, which is typically used to make a song that’s normally happy and upbeat sound sad and depressing. That’s why that scene hurts so much

Are also more than soapop, because it plays on like sad tom's having a like a happy or more blisting, like tune and beat even though the lyrics are dark, I like the like the contrasting themes of that song

Never did I expect to love this movie as much as I do, nor did I expect to love the soundtrack this much. After numerous rewatches, the "Takedown" scene hits so hard. We the audience know what's going on. But if you consider it from Rumi's perspective, it's... horrible. A lifetime of covering up, of hiding her patterns, of being told that her closest friends would not understand. She's probably had nightmares about this exact moment. Anxiety induced panic attacks caused by close calls in her everyday life. And going into that moment, she'd been on the outs with Mira and Zoey. Actually had a little spat with them. She returns after seeing Jinu and suddenly they're on board with her plan. So of course she believed in the moment that her friends turned on her. She'd seen it thousands of times before. I love that you picked up immediately that a dis track would be no good. And I simply love that they thought "Golden", a song about being "the best of us", would secure the Honmoon. Instead, "What It Sounds Like", an anthem about being flawed and embracing it, is what unites the people.

You could even say....it was hard to swallow. *ba-dum chish!* As far as I can tell, they didn't achieve the Golden Honmoon because it was mixed colors instead of only gold, which definitely could be a plot point for a sequel. Tiger and Bird not getting banished to the demon realm makes me question what they even are, if not demons.

Welcome to most of the stuff you watch! :) You've brought so much emotional turmoil into my viewing with your reacts! That's a good thing but still! I blame you! :P -"Don't let this F me in the A" *Morgan Freeman voice* It would of course, F them in the A. -"Until we could fix you" gives me very 'Have you tried NOT being a mutant' vibes. Same reasons. -Crying isnt a problem. Especially for somebody whose emotions pay their rent. Nobody here thinks crying makes you anything, certainly not a whiny little bitch, which sounds like something this wasn't your first time saying. Our society has some fucked up practices, and emotions being a weakness is in that bundle... -Broken glass, scars, jagged edges. Great imagery. -"Yes! wait..NO!" :) Yup. -Bobby is just a lil' guy, and he isn't gonna get enough love. Also it's a much nicer character than the actor usually gets to play, probably because it's animated and his demeanor has defaulted to mean/biting for so long. -Names from a different cultural context are harder, too, no worries. -It feels like this movie came out of nowhere and hit like a freight train, becoming popular and EVERYWHERE so so fast. I hope that lasts and we get a sequal and/or a series.

2025-07-09 21:47:31 +0000 UTCThe voice actors you'll probably recognise are: - Daniel Dae Kim (the voice doctor) who's voiced Avatar TLA and She-Ra - Ken Jeong (Bobby the manager) who's done The Hangover, Dr Ken, Community. Like Kim he has a really distinctive face you'd probably recognise. - Lee Byung-hun (Gwi-ma) who plays someone called "Front Man" in Squid Games that you've mentioned watching. Aside from that it's a very Korean heavy cast so not much overlap with Western shows. The songs are patterned after a genuine KPop band called "Twice", with Takedown written by them.

It was basically a "What If" Rumi had told the other two earlier that she was half demon, but it was hilarious because she worded the entire thing like it was a coming-out speech. And when she finally said it to them, it cuts back to the other two who were now stunlocked after getting stuff ready off screen that revealed they had thought she was coming out as trans. They had all these trans colored banners and party hats and cake and Mira had a shirt that said "Fuck TERFS" because to them that seemed like the most likely explanation to her behavior than being half demon.

My personal favorite is this is 'what it sounds like' and then I LOVE Free it's sooo damn cute and wholesome, not to mention the lyrics are sooo good (although that's not to say I hate it don't enjoy he other songs I just have the most enjoyment with those two)

The selective interest and praise, the careful omission of the subject, acting like they did a good job just because they didn't hurl slurs and kick you out - it makes a parent's love feel so conditional.
