(Reupload because the last version kept lagging)
FINALLY SOMEONE IS HOLDING LOUIE ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS ACTIONS!!!

"Timephoon!"~Ducktales S2 Ep21 FULL Reaction

Comments

This episode is such a good one all for those last couple of scenes. Della finally parenting and punishing one of the kids for putting everyone in danger. I love Louie's response because he is totally out of line but its such an interesting thing to see that Della's choices have affected her kids as well. I love the episode ending with drama between them and that the show allowed there to be this kind of issue. Also, freaking launchpad talking about seeing the end of the world gets me every time. 😂

Yeah Louie was allowed to get WAY out of control til now. Bubba, btw, (and Tootsie, who Bubba named in the original run) was from the OG Ducktales show, cavepeople kinda being a thing for a while back then.

Louie and Della are having a family crisis, Huey is having a mental breakdown, and Dewey and Webby are just having a gay old time playing with their paleolithic predecessor. Bubba was a later addition to the original series. He was one of its more controversial elements for how much focus he got and how much of a blatant kid-appeal character he was. He had his own theme song, which both Dewey's attempt at writing one for Bubba here and the various rhyming puns on his name came from, and he had Tootsie the triceratops. Huey continues to be extremely relatable, a word which here means "autistic." I know the practical reasons why it didn't happen (time and budget constraints), but I really wish we'd gotten a clip show episode or online shorts or something showing what everyone was doing when they got zapped into the past. Dewey and Webby's hippie outfits are adorable and I'm sure whatever they were doing in the 60s was equally adorable and it's a travesty we didn't get to see it. So, yeah, Della and Louie, huh? A lot of people get mad about Della "playing favorites" by punishing Louie here, but not Dewey after all the dangerous stunts he pulled in "Raiders of the Doomsday Vault," but they're really not the same thing. Dewey clearly recognized he'd screwed up, while Louie didn't really seem to recognize the scale of what he'd done here. I do think it would have been better if there'd been a Louie and Della bonding episode before this like she had with Dewey and Huey so this wasn't their first major one-on-one interaction, but I'm not sure what could reasonably have been cut to make room for that. More than that, Della in this episode had just had to relive all her moon trauma by being ripped away from her family again, but this time with even less ability to do anything about it. At least on the moon, she could try to contact Earth and rebuild the Spear. In medieval Europe, all she could do was wait for someone to come get her with no idea whether anyone had a working time machine and any way to find her. We don't know how long any of them spent in the past (or future, for Launchpad), but based on them all acquiring different clothes, it was clearly longer than the few seconds it was for Louie. And then, after everyone got back, Louie directly compared it to what Della did with the Spear, showing that he recognized the similarities and yet still did it despite knowing how badly it went for Della. She's entirely right to be mad that her kid repeated her own worst mistake despite having personally suffered for that mistake his whole life.

Huey and Dewey really weren’t lying about Louie in the first episode. He IS the evil triplet! 😂
