I'm not seeing the appeal of any of this.

Goldie's a snake, but that's why I like her, personally. ๐Ÿคญ Then again, I've always just really enjoyed skeevy women characters lol

Me: "Morgan, you're gonna love episode 15 bc of Scrooge lore." You: "I fucking hate this episode." AJDJDJDJDJDJDDJ

I see their dynamic as more one of respect than cuddly love. Scrooge clearly admires her spirit, intelligence and resourcefulness, but loathes her selfish and backatabbing nature. Note that he never referred to her as his girlfriend, just as his partner and rival and everything. xD He does have something resembling romantic feelings for her, but he's aware it would never work, at least I hope he is... x)

The Goldie-Scrooge thing is a Spider-Man-Black Cat dynamic

Joel Sester

Scrooge approaches everything in life as an adventure and a challenge to be bested. Goldie is among the few potential romantic partners who can give him that, and she has the same sort of mindset. It's a terrible basis for a relationship, but, well, we can see how that's working out for them. Scrooge initially striking it rich in the Klondike Gold Rush was always part of his backstory, which, when the character was introduced in the 1940s, was an entirely reasonable way for a rich man in his 70s or 80s- old, but not ancient- to have gotten his start. However, when a franchise runs for decades, tying your character's backstory to specific dates and specific real historical events starts to create problems. After years of Scrooge's backstory growing increasingly implausible, for this show they decided to fully embrace it and make him impossibly old in-universe.

I agree, their dynamic is very odd! They're very similar, since they both love treasures and adventure, but at the same time have much different morals. Scrooge works hard for his money, while Goldie is a conwoman. I like how you said it was like yin and yang, like this strange push and pull dynamic. I don't know if this makes any sense, but yeah. I don't understand their thing either and honestly I don't think they do either, it's just how they are๐Ÿคท
