Wendy is 15 while Dipper is 12 turning 13 at the end of the summer and while I don't condone the two of them dating AT THE TIME, I do feel like it could be realistic that after they both graduate high school and/or college, that they might end up deciding to date, in which case it would be ok THEN because they'd both be well over 18 and only have about 2 years difference in age which WHEN THEY'RE BOTH OVER 18, is not an issue in my opinion. Personally, I think the show actually handled their relationship AS FRIENDS very well. It's not unrealistic that a kid around Dipper's age, would develop a crush on a girl a couple years older than him, and Wendy handles it very well without ever crossing that line between platonic and romantic feelings. So while I do understand how it can feel uncomfortable to watch at times, the show makes a point NOT to go so far that it feels like Wendy is intentionally leading Dipper on. At least, that's how I felt watching it.
