Thrawn is way smarter than the usual empire bully. Very interesting character who survived to Disney extented universe erasing.

Palpatine despises alien races and don’t allow them to enlist in the military, while there are alien conspirators of the empire, they are just viewed as lower class. Thrawn faced a lot of racism in the military but because he’s so smart, he is palpatines exception. He got mad at that officer talking down on another race and their culture because he personally cannot stand it
