Mara is Adora’s oldest sibling, she is eight years older. It was a big difference when Adora was five and wanted to play but Mara was already thirteen and ‘too old for kid stuff’.
When their mother passed away, despite Mara splitting her time between her dads and the Grey’s, Mara still made time for her half-siblings. The age difference didn’t stop them being close as they got older.
Adora idolised her sister and that didn’t change when Mara decided to be a firefighter. Adora knew her sister was a hero, and now the world knew it too. Mara had a hands on approach to helping people and she put her life on the line every day. If Adora ever learnt to trust She-Ra, maybe she would have followed her sisters example.
Adora always saw her sister as better, she was older, wiser, stronger. It was just a fact, and Adora accepted that truth. Mara was someone you could rely on, and who would be there to support you. If Adora ever let her. Adora never felt any animosity to her sister, their differences made them who they were, and Adora was proud of her sister for being better than her.
Until she started flirting with Catra…
