I can understand your confusion about this being a kid's show because part of the show's history is missing. Clone Wars originally aired on Cartoon Network, and they expected a kiddy show. When they saw the episodes, they freaked out and started skipping episodes, pre-empting them or airing the shows at night, way outside the prime kid-viewing hours. IMHO, they wanted Lucas Films to back out of the deal. Buy Filoni and his crew always meant this show to appeal to adult Star Wars fans. He created Ashoka and was the mastermind behind Clone Wars and Rebels.
